RR Retirement isn't bad, but I made over 100k the last 5 years I worked, some jobs don't make the cut-off which was ablut 92k last year.

Also I only had one year of "higher" education.
Everyone thinks railroad money sounds great until they realize what it takes to earn it.

That's a very wise outlook on personal financing...
I used to think that way, as well when prices weren't so out of reach.Up here in Canada, I don't know alot of folk( must be travelling in the wrong circles!) who have more than $60,000. cash on them to buy a new Diesel Ram, or$300,000.00+( average house price on the Vancouver Island,BC)to buy a house for that matter, but that's what they cost, so in order for us working poor ( ya we deserve it!)to own(haha!) any of this we are forced
to borrow the money! At least the payments go to something worthwhile and that makes this short life a little nicer.
P.S, after I die,if the house/truck ain't paid for...the kids can take over!

HIJENKS........Congrats on your retirement. I've been railroading my whole life, too and understand what you are saying. Although I've never made that kind of money..especially dealing with the nearly 50% Canadian taxation, and a weaker dollar. We also have to pay significantly more for new vehicles up here even after the $exchange. It's tuff to have the nice toys even with an excellent income.
God bless, and enjoy some things now that you've not been able to over the years, spending so many hours away from home!
