My wife and I make enough to get by comfortably, but no where near enough to buy a house where we live ($350k MIN for a 1000 sq ft disaster on a 50x100 lot). We are thinking about moving. I work from home, so I might as well be working in the cheapest place to live in the country 
But you cannot put a price on this: 3 miles to Mom & Dad, 3 miles to sister and brother in law. 3 miles to siser and brother in law.

Its pretty sad. I have made nearly the same my whole career. As a punk kid I was a ski bum in Colorado. I lived life to its fullest. Now nearing 40 I hurt all over everyday. And still make the same amount as I did at 20.
The only difference is now I have a family to share all of life's wonders with

I'm still a student in high school so moneys real tight. Its mine and Dads truck thats how we pay for it, I usaly drive the 93 S-10 cause fuels cheaper and it gets better fuel mileage. not as much fun but gets me from point A to point B
Things are going to get real tight this fall when I go to school. Oh well its WyoTechs heavy and new light diesel programs.

i will tell you this, READ, get trade magazines (not fluff magazines), business periodicals, and READ, and know what people are talking about. there's nothing like going to your mechanic and saying "everyone on the internet is talking about XYZ" and he's gets glassy eyed.....
i think WYOTECH would be a blast, keep us updated, maybe start a thread on your progress.
pray about the $$ - if you and your Pop are having a good time together, and have good fellowship - that's priceless.
money's more pain than i could ever imagine. just make enough to keep you & yours happy

Here in Missouri we built a brand new 1300 square foot ranch, with two bedrooms, two baths, one with a big corner jucuzzi tub, hardwood floors, fireplace, all kinds a cool stuff for about $120,000. We built it on 70 acres that we all ready owned, which sells for about $3000-$5000 an acre.
) will sell in a heartbeat for $400k. If my entire family didn't live within 30 miles of me I would have been out of here a while ago...

Thanks to a good paying job, Uncle Sam and his family will always have a full belly....most of the time, too full

Get some kids or get some write offs. I got lotsa write offs so I get back most of what I pay in .

I don't make much but than again cost of living is less in the E. Ky hills than other places. I can't believe what some of you guys are paying for houes and land.We bought our farm for $900 an acre (135 acres small but hey I'm only 22) but than again it is 45 minutes to the closest thing resembling a town. And are gettin a home by next Christmas (about 75k for 1,8000sq ft) Plus we own her 01 blazer outright, all my trailers, four wheeler, cattle, etc.... tractor, truck and the farm are all I owe on. Times are tight and winter is always bad it seems (never know if we are gonna have enough money to pay the bills) And the farm we are renting now is running me $500 a month for 54 acres house and barns. Kinda high I think. But we are newlyweds so I guess we're doin ok. Good payin jobs are few and far between here, and we both have college Ag. degrees. You would think in such a rural/farm infested area we would have been great. But this is home and regardless I guess we'll stay put.

Grass isnt always greener on the other side!....I'm in the top bracket, but i'm no were near having enough land to build a dirtbike track on...and i'm not a fan of the big city hustle and bustle....
