yepper- the 40k price tag was a lot to swallow- but that's what you get for buying new- man I saved for yr for a downpayment- to keep the monthly paymants low and I guess that's the price you have to pay and 3 weeks into my ownership I am so far very satisfied w/ my choice

Did you ever price a 1/2 ton with some options and the most powerful v8 available? you'll get to 40 grand real easy - so why not have something that is more truck and get better mpg?

The trick is to have a lot of "automobile maintenance parts" I.e. Preventative maintenance for a dull ride.

nah, did my 20 in the Navy, young enuff to kick MadHat's but and old enough to lose my breath doing it...

raised on a dirt road.

didn't go hungry much, but Mama often said "you don't pick beans this summer - you won't eat beans this winter"

i don't even like beans. never did. never will. Mama never considered that a good enough excuse.

i think the military is the BEST way to extract yourself from your parents problems/upraising/whatever and be your own man.

if you do 3 things in the Navy, you can easily earn ~50k a year:
-be on time
-be in right uniform.
-be ready to work (do what you are told, when you are told)
that will get you to E6 - and that's a BUCKET of money in the submarine force.

That's nothing to sneeze at, without a (big at least) mortage that isn't a bad income at all for retirement.

Good for you!

Construction has been pretty good to me.....helps when you work for one of the biggest outfits in the country, they tend to pay more than the little guys.

The market is hot right now too. CM's/GC's are hurting for good folks, so you can almost name your price. I was getting 2-3 calls a week from headhunters for a while until I started asking them if they had anyone available.

I might make it into the second to last category by the end of 07....not bad for a high school drop out. Then again, I am driving a 10 year old truck with 243K on it....
