Being retired puts me in the under 30K class. That is just my income. Wife is just over 30K but just started working full time.
Got truck payments and car paments and CC paments. Did not do things the cash, one payment plan.
To Make the big bucks have to have the education in most cases, or be an entrpenure and have a good thing going. It can be done.

This is an interesting poll. Nationally only 10% of our working population makes over $100,000.00.
Even though I could afford a new truck I like being able to put that money towards something else every month. Like Savings!!! Firearms Or Real Estate, you know, things that often times make more money sitting still!

Madhat is right. When you look at the base pay it doesnt look like much, but when you add in special duty pay and what you get compensated for when you are married, it adds up quick. $2402 base pay for E-5 over 8 years (taxable), $1229 Basic Allowance for Housing (non taxable, depends on zip code and rank), $272.26 Basic Allowance for Subsistence (non taxable, same across the board) for a grand total of $3903.26 monthly/$46,839.12 yearly. 30 days paid vacation a year (that starts at day one) and every national and federal holiday off. Medical is covered for you and your dependants, dental at a very low monthly fee. Of course if you are not married the BAH and BAS go out the window but you get free meals and free board. Not bad if you can deal with the deployments. Ammenities vary with the branch of service i.e. Air Force has the most and Marines have the least.

What restaurant? I'll have to come to eat with the family.
I do alright as a HD mechanic in the oilpatch. I work for Nabors Drilling. I made $80,000 this year. Working strictly in shop. make far more in the field and even more for International rotations.

Since I'm out of work I'm going back gold prospecting / mining .
In the past , with a $1,000-2,000 worth of equipment & a lot of learning , the min. has been $500 a wk. , with a 15-20 hr. a wk. [ the partner I had at the time didn't like to work and I was there during my time off ]
Now I want to do it my way , about 30 hrs. a week , 3-5 mths. a yr.
I have more equipment & experence now so should do ok .
I'm going get to what I figured out a long time ago , life it not to support your work , work is to support life , this should give me the off time to live it .
