43 miles each way, usally 45 minutes in the morning and 50 or so in the evening. and it is worth every bit of the drive to raise my kids where i live instead of in town. but i have to admit the harley is going to see a lot more miles with the prices of fuel.

1 mile to the office, not far enough to even warm up the truck. Depending on whether I have jobs going in the Bay Area, between 1 1/2 hrs. to 3 hrs. each way. Man, I love my days in the office.

10 miles to the station and back every 3rd day. Have to be there by 7:00 AM and get off 24 hours later. Then I'm off for 48.

I have a 120 miles round trip that I usually do 3 or 4 times a week depending on the schedule. Sometimes I'll do the trip 7 days a week but that means lots of overtime to pay for the fuel. You definantely have to make sure you're making enough to pay for the added distance. I remeber seeing a show that explained how this married couple was loosing money by having the wife go back to work after having a baby, it's kind of a similar situation. If 20% goes to fuel and 50% goes to the government that doesn't leave much. My fuel costs right now are about 3% of my income at 15 mpg but I'm making about 32% more by driving the distance, of course that doesn't take into account the lost time on the road and the wear and tear on the truck, but hey, I love my job!

3 miles each way. takes 3 to 4 min. I'm a lead millwright in a large sawmill. cut about 750,000 board foot of 2x4 and 2x6 studs per 10 hour shift. If the mill stay's running I can make the short drive home in a good mood
