Houston, TX to Jacksonville, FL - what to see along the way?
Around the end of July I will be taking my family to Jacksonville, FL to see my brother who is stationed there in the Navy. We are taking a week off and will be driving mostly IH-10 to get there. With two young boys (ages 6 & 4) we will probably be making a few stops along the way. So I am looking for some good places to stop, any interesting sites to see, good places to eat, you know can't miss got to see and do kind of things. We will be in Jacksonville for a couple of days so whats good there? Where's the best area to stay? Thanks for the help guys

dont take I-10 all the way, jump on I-12 and bypass new orleans, not that I have a problem with that place. it will just save you time and fuel.
I will be heading to Panama City the first of July for a week. Have a place there and I havent got to go in a while, so I am ready!

This is a very cool place to stop.
If your hungry when you go through Lake Charles stop in at Steamboat Bills its the first exit on the east side of the Calcasieu River. off of I-10. you cant miss it.
There is also a cool little park in Jennings La. its owned by the town they have 3 big Gators and always keep a few little babys around 14" that your boys could hold makes for cool show and tell pics... Jennings only has one exit the park can be seen on the north side of the interstate.
Have fun.

get off I-10 and detour south to 98 and drive on it a while through panama city and mexico beach and a few other places then go back north to 10, best drive you will ever see especially in the evening, best part of florida besides the keys probably.

Steamboat Bill's is a good place to eat there in Lake Charles, as stated above. its on the westbound side of I-10 and you will have to exit and do the u-turn, if i remember correctly.

I'd drive through new orleans to show your kids how it is if you depend on only welfare to keep you alive.. Then get some food, then get out of town before sunset.
I'd also try to find all the alligator farms that have tours and shows. Stop at all them.
