Honey...I'm going over to the Speed Shop...

Got this off of today's Autotech Daily:

MOPAR SPEEDSHOPS FOCUS ON "MUSCLE, STREET AND SPEED"

The Chrysler Group unveiled a prototype of its Mopar Speedshop at this week’s Specialty
Equipment Market Assn. (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas. It expects 40 Chrysler, Dodge and
Jeep dealerships nationwide to open such "shops-within-a-shop" in the next several
months and says hundreds more have inquired about participating.
Announced last year, the new Speedshops will focus on three performance segments
that Chrysler defines as muscle, street and speed. In addition to stocking a variety of
parts and accessories, the automaker envisions the Mopar stores serving as a "hang out"
for car enthusiasts with product experts available at the counter. It also is launching three
new category-specific Mopar catalogs.
Launched in 1937, Mopar is the exclusive original equipment supplier of parts,
components and accessories for Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles sold worldwide. The
automaker expects specialty cars such as the Dodge SRT-4 to be especially ripe for
customization, noting that Mopar’s Stage 1 turbo upgrade and turbo "blow-off" valve
already have proven popular with owners of these vehicles.

Wait a minute! Blow-off valve? Doesn't that void the warranty? :

Re:Honey...I'm going over to the Speed Shop...

Given Chrysler's no-nonsense "void that warranty" policy, this could get very interesting. Mopar has sold "performance enhancements" for years including air systems and chips. Of course the price tag has always been outrageous, but I wonder how they will explain in a court how their performance mods don't hurt anything, when a performance mod that is the same power level, and achieves the performance in the exact same fashion, does.
