I was told that there is a program that will cover a Military Member selling a home due to a forced move such as a BRAC situation. Basically it will cover the negative equity in a home if it cannot be sold for what is owed. Does anyone know of any such program and where the information can be found?

You can also contact the VFW and the American Legion. They both maintain a data base on programs available to Vets.

I found the form to fill out and request the service. You have to show that the closing of the base has made an impact on the home market in your area to be eligible. Plus it doesnt really bail you out, just helps. Basically you either break even by selling to the government or take your chances with one of the percentage buyouts that pertain to market value comparison from when you bought to when you sold. Since Im in the Atlanta area I really wont be able to prove that this little base crashed the home sales market.
