Exclamation Help!! Grill emergency

Have a Sunbeam Grillmaster grill that we bought about 6 years ago. It needs a new burner and apparently Sunbeam doesn't manufacture grills or replacement parts anymore. Does anyone know if a "universal burner" will work on Sunbeam Grills? Just wondering how "universal" the mounting points are, as any burner should work. Am going to take the burner to Home Depot tonight and find out the answer. I think I can get the part online but I need it pretty fast.

Thanks,
~Rob

I tried one of the universal burners replacements on my Sunbeam last month. Ended up buying a new grill. Had a problem with the left side inlet tube. That particular side would not light. Took it apart and reinstalled everything, still would not light. Spent 3 evenings (with interuptions) trying to figure out the problem, no could do. Also, it has no place for the ignitor. I tried everything I could think of to get that to work. Entire replacement project was a waste of $ for me. Ended up buying a really nice 4 burner grill with electric ignitor and it was on sale. The ol Sunbeam gave me 10 years of grillin so I cannot complain.

Almost went with a Stainless grill, but couldn't justify the expense.

gud luk,

Casey

I rebuilt our Sunbeam several times over the years. The last burner I bought was a universal stainless steel from Home Depot. It worked but wasn't a perfect fit. Then the bottom fell out of the tub. I decided to go for a Weber Genesis A. I got 11 years out of the Sunbeam but I sure like the Weber. If I'd have known how much I'd like the Weber, I'd have bought one 11 years ago. Look in the phone book for a grill store. I got some parts from a little pop shop that no one else had for the Sunbeam.

Walmart and Lowes both carry burners, but get atleast the stainless steel one w/ 5 yr warranty..

I rebuilt my grill, which we use 2 to 3 times a week - 12 months a year, I got one that was steel and had a 3 yr warranty and it didnt last a year. but by then I couldnt find my paperwork and replaced it with the stainless steel.. They also have a cast iron (or ceramic - i dont remember) one that is much more expensive but would certainly last longer..

BTW - after buying the stainless burner and throwing the old burner in the trash, i found my 3 yr warranty papers.. ohh well...

They carry replacement burners at the local walmart here. I replaced mine a couple of years ago.

I agree charcoal is the best. Surprised not more folks from Texas have jumped on me for using propane. However, I have no patience, especially when I am hungry.

The ignition system is shot on the grill as well. I think it is time to upgrade to a new one

We use propane at our place all the time. I agree, it doesn't taste the same as charcoal but when I'm hungry I want to eat right now and you just can't do that with charcoal.

I looked at a Weber Charcoal last fall...nice unit. I may have to have all three in a row.
