The truck gets driven less now. Even more so now that I have a new means of getting to work. I re-painted our moped, "Pinky", so I could drive it to work.

My truck is also my #1 work tool. It's also our family car and vacation tow vehicle for our 5th wheel. While observing traffic on the interstates and around town, it's apparent that gas and diesel prices are still fairly cheap. Folks still drag race from one light to the next. The 70mph speed limit means 85-90mph and our vehicles still appear to be our number one form of entertainment. All the crying and whining at the pump is just that and no more than that. When it becomes a real burden, we might trade the Durango for a Corolla but as of yet, I have no desire to drive my own coffin. I might dust off the Harley this summer. Traffic is so thick and crazy anymore it's not as much fun to ride. Urban sprawl due to cheap fuel for decades means I can ride from Tampa to Georgia and still be in the suburbs with thick traffic. In our country, change comes as a last resort resulting from catastrophic failure, not as a pro active preventive measure.

my other choice of vehicle to drive is my 85 chevy 1/2 ton which gets about 11 mpg, which isnt very good haha. I'm alot easier on the skinny pedal, but still drive the same amount.

I didnt drive that much when fuel prices were low, so it hasnt changed my driving habits..
still have to go to/from work and move hay and horses around....
Thought about buying a second more fuel-friendly vehicle, but shoot, by the time I buy it,tag it and pay insurance, I can buy a lot of diesel for that...

For the amount of driving I do I figured out that I could park the truck during the week, drive the 98 VW cabrio (30+ mpg), by a newish 01 Volvo V70 (25+ mpg) for the wife and still not spend as much on the extra car payment, insurance and gas than what I was spending on diesel alone each month. So yeah I still drive the same amount just with a more efficient vehicle. Not that I can't afford to drive the Cummins all the time, but why spend the $$ on diesel if I can save $$ this way. And also keep the mileage down on the wrapper for the Cummins.
