Handgun Help
Looking for a good concealed carry auto and I need suggestions. Would like to find something under $400 if possible. Glock 27 40 or a S&W Sigma 40. Anymore suggestions?

Re:Handgun Help
I also have a 9mm PT-111.
It's available in .40 & .45 cal.
The trigger pull is a little stiff due to it's DAO configuration, (not necessarily a bad thing in a carry piece) and after almost 1,000 rounds, I've never had a FTF except when using one box of El Cheapo ammo.(2 stovepipes in 50 rounds).
It happily gobbles up Winchester 115 grain & 147 grain ammo. ;D
I'm looking for a 1911 Commander now to use for "Special Occasions"

Re:Handgun Help
Muddy, the cracking PT frames were on the 1st Generation of the .45 cal PTs on the market. (Notice the date of the post in that forum Nov, 2001)
They have corrected this in the Millinium series.

I HIGHLY recommend a Glock 26, 27 or 33 for concealed carry folks. All are very small and concealable and for the same size frame you can either get a 9 mm, .40 or .357 Sig, respectively. I've seen all of the above, with night sights already installed, at gun shows for the $475 to $500 range.

Whatever you think you want though....try to rent or borrow one and shoot it at a range first.

That was probably the most inaccurate handgun I'd ever shot. : Don't even THINK of getting decent groups at a 25 yard target. Heck....I did good to even HIT the target with that gun. : No problems with my Ruger or Glocks....but I couldn't hit squat with that thing. That alone was reason enough for me to decide it was no good for concealed carry....not to mention the cracking frames. :

The G23 would be your best option for a concealed weapon. It is my choice as a concealed carry. They are also one of the easiest to breakdown and clean (fewer parts). As for accuracy, all sub-compacts are never going to be as accurate as a good rail-gun, but in my testing the SC’s from H&K and Glock were way more accurate then any other SC makes. Just my $.02, but if ya don’t like the H&K then don’t settle for anything less than a Glock in the non-1911 category.

Kyle

Re:Handgun Help
the glocks are excelent weapons. but i still find then smaller versions bulky for concealment there double stack magazine makes for a wide handle in a concealment gun. I have a kal-tech .32 for my concealment gun. it takes alittle breaking in before the action becomes nice and smooth the manufacturer say 500 rounds or so. its small enough to fit under ur belt with a belt clip and not be noticed. walther also makes a nice small concealment gun but if u have fat hands the action tends to remove some skin. the .32's with hollow points got good reviews as far as other guns in that caliber range. dont be caught up in the bigger is better. if you cant hit ur target it doesnt matter how big it is. beside statistically if you are more than five or ten feet from the person or thing you are trying to hit you are gonna miss anyway.

I have a few handguns.
The only one small enough for conceal is my Walther PPK .380.
It conceals great, either in the belt, or I have a shoulder harness for it too.
(could probably conceal my 9mm or .357 if I wore bulkier clothing, but its shorts and tanktops 365/24/7)
It is kinda small for big handed guys like me,
if I'm shooting quick it will put a nice scratch/gash just behind my thumb.
If I'm just target shooting, I know to move my hand down a bit.
I got the PPK/s, it has a seven shot magazine, so you have 8 shots with one in the pipe.
Some will say the .380 is too small of a round, but I figure the first shot will slow they guy down, the next 3 will finish him off, and I'll have 4 shots left for his friend.
