Re:Halloween Safety Tips -- Follow Them

It would appear that I should explain the reason for posting the Safety Tips. When I got this little item, I noticed that it seemed to spoof every "horror" movie made. Yes, I admit freely that I enjoy the occasional "horror" or "terror" movie for it's entertainment value and with this background knowledge, saw many references to these movies in each of the numbered items. If I want to really be "terrified" or "horrified", all I have to do is read the daily news or catch the evening news. Real life is far scarier than anything Hollywood could ever dream up. Just look at the proceedings involving the Green River Killer. How about Dahlmer?? It was posted for entertainment value, not as a stepping stone for someone else to translate into more serious thoughts. I was amused when the thread evolved to the hossification but certainly didn't expect the additional twist. Is humor no longer permitted in the "Other" category? Not to stir the pot but perhaps we need clarification as to what can be posted in THIS forum. I generally submit based on the observation that the "Other" category was for most anything (within good taste and decorum, of course) that we thought was either informative or entertaining AND not related to our trucks and diesels in general. I try to avoid anything which may even hint at being confrontational and consequently you won't see my views on many subjects posted here on a routine basis. I noticed in another thread that there was only one person who stepped forward with a "valid" comment about not messing with another person's truck, even if for humor or "revenge" because of a joke played the year previous. All the rest of the comments and suggestions left me wondering where you draw the line in practical jokes.

If anyone was offended or upset by this submission of Safety Tips, then to them I apologize. It certainly wasn't intended to come out the way it evolved to.

Hoss in a bunny suit!!!! Now that cracks me up.

I, for one, thought they were great. When things start taking on a serious tone ... I move to another subject.

There is a time and place for pontificating ... usually on Sunday in church.

NWDave ... you have been pretty doggone quiet up there lately. I haven't seen a real belly-grabbin' joke from you in a while. You slackin' off or what ??? ;D

NWDave: Don't worry about it. I saw the humor, and if I can find it, I'll bet almost anyone can. ;D

Re:Halloween Safety Tips -- Follow Them

I too saw the humor but also saw and know how serious this stuff can be. Remember, I made a short statement and then backed off. It was only when three DTR's pushed me that I elaborated. Sorry if this offended anyone. Perhaps I should not have responded even when pushed. Will try and be more restrained in the future. However, it is hard to be restrained when one is enthusiatic about something, even religion. You ask me, you receive a straight answer.
BTW, I was supported in my statements by email and PM afterwards.

NWDAVE, you can insult me or post jokes or whatever, I can take it. ;D We need more of your jokes. I appreciate them.

Mexstan former Canuckstan, don't sweat it I think your points were valid as well, perhaps a bit out of context for the thread...however, I learned some stuff I never knew before...and may never need, but knowledge just the same.

I ate all the candy this year. MMMMMMMM

Yeah, I guess so. Between trying to get the bathroom remodeled and with some unexpected overtime, ya have to prioritize. I'd like to be right and say that DTR is number one, but, well you know, and to you guys, I wouldn't lie. There is an end in sight but then we've got the holidays rapidly approaching (the reason for the crash program on the bathroom)(almost thought about having a porta potty outside but SWMBO put the big kibosh on that idea :). I appreciate all the responses and knew that there were those who understood. Been to too many sensitivity training classes. Yes, even electricians have to have the classes. We wouldn't want to offend any stray electrons, don't cha know.

Re:Halloween Safety Tips -- Follow Them

I know what that means and we had a friend we called El Gordo. Close but not quite for me though. If I ate more of them things more often then yes...that would be a suitable name. At least from what I remember. :'( oink
