I've taken Hoss's idea to a new and better level. (It wasn't that hard.)
1 yard of wet sand spread evenly in the bed. Adds about 1200 pounds and gives a great base for transporting anything. Press fragile items gently into the sand and they stay safe and protected.
Now the only problem is keeping the neighbors cats out.
Plus I can remove it to install the fifth wheel hitch and reinstall again later with very little effort.

I think ole HOSS is trying to see how many true rednecks there are here on the DTR.
Ok, I'll bite, I too had a first genner that had nine (yes 9) leaf springs on it + the overloads. I could put three (yes 3) tons of gravel in the bed (all the more I could fit in there) and only drop the suspension 4.25 inches. For the winter time I had to build a box (with steel in it to hook the high lift to load it in and out of the bed) I took to the local concrete shop and said, "fill er up". After the box was full, I drove home, and let it set up for a day or so. Total weight was 1575 lbs. Should have seen the look on the guys face when I told him it was just to smooth the ride out. LOL
Since I sold the truck a long time ago, it now sets in my dads yard as a tie out for the dog. works rather well and I guarantee the ole pooch aint gonna move it.

Looks like this thread was resurrected without my knowing.
Westcoaster, I just don't understand where such obviously blatant lies could come from.
Blue, I thought the last time you went to "confession" they arrested you for......well.......maybe we shouldn't get into that again.
Dennis.....you cut me man!! You cut me deep!!
If there's a hornets nest, Hoss is the first in there poking at it to see what flies out.....
Really? Naw. Not Hoss. Hoss is a perfect little angel. Time to go to confession for lying.
THAT is the BIGGEST UNDERSTATEMENT ever made!

Now I can watch whatever I want to when I'm driving along (under the speed limit, officer) as long as the truck's pointed ~233.943° SW.
