Sorry for your loss. After 2 years, I still reach down beside my armchair to pat that head that used to always be there.

I'm sorry for your loss. Its so true though, that they are the best friends you'll ever have. Its hard getting used to having them here, then before you know it, they're old and its time for em to go. In the amount of time they're here, they show more love and devotion than many people ever show in they're life. I've got 4 and I can't even imagine them not being there n the morning or when I get home in the afternoon. It doesn't matter how bad of a day I've had, my boys always cheer me up

Sorry you had to put your dog down, I know its hard to do. Just like losing a family member. I know one day I'm going to have to put down my old rott, he's getting more problems now that he's older.

You are not alone as evidenced by all the replies. Last year I had to do the same to Dakota, my 13 yr old yellow lab. He stopped eating and was losing energy, turned out to be congestive heart failure. It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. Would like another one, but every time I think about getting one, I remember what it was like to put him down. Guess I'm not ready yet.

Hang in there, it does get better with time.

Sorry to hear that. I had to put my lab Kane down 6 months ago. I miss him every day and Christmas sucked without him. He was a great dog and at least he's not suffering anymore.

I'm sorryfor your loss. It'll get better.

I got a dog that came with the farm that I bought 11 years ago. He is getting in bad shape each day and guess tomorrow I will put him away. He sure has been a good dog, never did anything wrong or got in the way. His name is Buster Nonuts. Sure going to miss him.

Hey "CMoore",
I'm sorry to hear of your loss, the furry ones are sometimes the hardest to loose. I to have been there and still having a hard time working it out. And to “Lary Ellis”, I hear ya, my lab was 13 when he past 12/28/07. My buddy “Bailey”, Chocolate Lab. I hear him barking in the yard some days when I pull into the driveway…. Don’t let your loss stop you from starting a new relationship with another one. Build on it with the strength of your loss with Max, he’s not far from you…. I have a new little girl, she’s a sweetie and her name is Skye! Be well, Kurt

Beautiful beast, man. I am really sorry.

I have 4 friends this year that have had to put down their beloved dogs and I feel it every time.

They are so loyal and such huge parts of our lives, we need to mourn their demise, not be heroic trying to preserve them when their quality of life is less than comfortable, and remember them often in the highest regard for what they brought to our lives. I can't fathom a heaven without Dogs, Dog is God backwards after all! You'll see him again one day.

Kurt

My old who dun it, is 19, and still healthy, except for not being able to hear. I know the time is comeing, and I dread it. I hope she does like the one before her, and just goes to sleep one day under her favorite shade tree, and doesn't wake up. Of course I'll do the same thing, and say no more dogs, untill somebody has a litter of mutts, and won't be able to say no when offered one.

Yea, growing up we had 2 pure bred shepherds, a golden lab (that we bought for a case of beer and a pack of smokes, long story), a cocker spaniel, a peekapoo and a short haired terrier. They truly do become part of the family. We have another cocker spaniel right now, she is only 3, but they are so much a part of the family its not even funny.

Each one is special and its tough when they have to go.

Sorry for your loss.
