Had a freaky thought...

We all know electronics fail. It's not uncommon to hear about TPS, speed sensors, abs sensors, MAF sensors, emissinons sensors, etc. to fail from time to time.

What if... something in your airbag system is messed up but you don't know about it until you need it?

Or worse... What if you're driving down the freeway listening to music and minding your own business when all of a sudden your AIRBAG goes off in your face?!

the airbag in my frontier is a fail off with an indicator light that isn't not functioning properly.
the airbag system should be inspected every 10 years.

what if you are just driving down the road and your airbag goes off.

Welcome to the Chevy Cavalier cars of the early to mid 90's. In cold weather, they would do it all the time.

On of the joys of owning a 1st gen is that that's one questions I don't ever have to worry about.

That's where the term "fail safe" is suppose to come into effect. When something fails, it is SUPPOSE to fail without additional injury.

For example, a medical pump. It could pump too much medicine into someone's body and cause injury or death. The pump is suppose to fail by NOT pumping anything instead of too much.

Just the benefits of modern technology and engineering combined with with every stockholder wanting a profit.

Ha...

The white helmet full time ehhh...

Is a sobering thought though, just a crusin along and all of a sudden Mike Tyson pops outta the dash and smacks you on the nose.

And if you survive that imagine trying to steer with the airbag sitting deflated in your lap.

I just leave the air bag at home whenever I am driving my truck and have not had any events yet. She has never said anything about either.

I had mine go off for no good reason. Turns out the clockspring was broke and shorted across when I was pulling into a parking spot at Home Depot. Scared the poop out of my wife. I was pushing it down so I could finish parking. She said I had white powder coming out of my nose from it.

Got a couple of pretty good burns on my arms and chin from the bag material. Fun stuff. I pulled it out and haven't worried about it since.

What if the remote failed while hanging on your key chain? You could NEVER get back inside your truck if it were locked. Good thing the Y2K bug didn't hit like everyone thought. Think of all the locked vehicles that could never be opened again.
