I think it greatest achievement is the lack of barrel jump, being able to keep that thing from climbing up and away from the target is key, doesn't matter hopw many rounds if the only 3 on target are the first ones..... quite a gun.

yeha man shovel, night shots are awesome, got one kickin around of me at night just after buildilg my first muzzleloader, firing it to unload it for the night, snow on the gruond and a long enough exposure to capture the swirling fireball with a tiny straight streak headin away from the barrel. lit the ground up enough to see the tracks in the snow.

I'm on a T40 buddy, originally a ~$2,200 computer.
I saw your ad this morning though, I don't like the disclaimer, sell or don't sell it!

The M-60 was/is a good gun. However, the design dates back to the old MG-42, if I'm not mistaken, from Germany in the late 30's early 40's.
When the M-16A2 came out, it had a 3 shot burst instead of the full auto. Therefore the squad lost the automatic rifle capability. Thus the M-249 Squad Automatic Weapon. Same 5.56 round as the 16 but firing some 850 rounds per minute. OK but needs a heavier barrel. You can turn one white in a couple of hundred rounds of continous fire. Too many "leaders" try to use the 249 as a replacement for the 60.
The M-240B is great. FN designed and built it. It is a better weapon than the 60, in a lot of respects, but it does seem to have some gas system cleaning issues. I haven't been around them enough to even be able to tell a good lie about them. One thing for sure, the 240B will shoot circles around the 60. Probably a good 300 meters greater range. A 240 will do at 800M what a 60 would do at 500.

The 240G the Marines use is quite a bit heavier than the 60-E3 they were using, outside of that I never really heard anything bad about them. The SAW was kind of unpopular because you had a tough time punching rounds through cinder block walls, which comes in pretty handy during urban fighting. That was part of the reason the Marines dug some of their M-14's out of storage for the "Designated Marksman" program, bring a little more punch to the table if the platoon should need it.
