With a Donaldson? Didn't you install a Donaldson muffler way back when? I bet he was talking about the whine of the turbo...

I'm not really a fan of the 12 valve noises either... They don't really clatter at throttle like the 24's and do kind of sound like oversized Honda's- they're all muffled. They sound like Kenny from South Park...

I think that the second gen 24 valves are the best sounding Diesels around... Even with the stock mufflers they really got a good Diesel clatter to them. 7.3 and 6.9 liters sound good too. 6.0's all have different sounds to them, so they're just hit or miss. Chevy 6.2's were okay sounding, and 6.5's basically huffed like whoever was pushing them. Duramax's all have a horrible case of the Kenny affect, and third gens like Hoss's are almost as bad.

But with an open muffler they all sound good. Except Duramaxs- they just sound like a turd being blown through a kazoo no matter what.

What with the MBRP , was at Runamuk get together last week and someone there was saying the MBRP systems sound like a lawnmower. I havent heard one myself.
