Speeding, running red lights, and no turn signals are clearly against the law and easy to spot.
Isn't careless driving entirely up to the officer's judgement? Does the law clearly spell out what is/is not careless driving?
A judge might be convinced that what the officer thought was careless driving was not. But, everyone is right that the OP should just take his punishment.
