My whole point is RESPONSIBILITY. And thanks guys. Why waste your money when you know your in the wrong? Sometimes there are places to have your fun Not in parking garages. Yea take it everyone likes to have fun but think about it there is a time and place for all of that. You already know there are alot people probably wanting to put there foot (you know where) if you set their alarms off. hehehe. On that note have a great day!

I like to smash people's windshields with baseball bats, I can't believe it's illegal. Bet you'd get mad if you came outside and had no windshield...

EDIT: that wasn't very nice of me, but I bet you were the little kid running around the toy store knocking everything off the shelves "cause it was funny"

Ripper,
Some day you'll come across someone who has even less respect for others then you, and maybe even has a bigger ego--and when he gets done cleaning your clock, or bashing you favorite toy, or........ you'll START to get the message.

However, it may just be someone who respects you and your rights, and his rights and your neighbors rights enough to just ask you not to show up to your place of employment.

After a couple of episodes of that you'll have a difficult time finding anything responsible for employment and eventually difficulty in every aspect of you life.

Remember: Most of the troubles in life are cause by what goes into your mouth or what comes out of your mouth.

Pay the fine and be glad you get a chance to grow up!

You need to look at the vehicle code very carefully when dealing with off street parking.. If the lot was a pay lot and not open to the general public then it is a "Private perking lot" and the police do not have jurisdiction unless there is an agreement between the City/county and the owners of the parking lot. It is is not a pay lot and is available to the general Public then there a several violations that are applicable in those.. Registration, Drivers licenses, Reckless driving, exhibition of speed, DUI, and a couple of others.. General violations like stop signs, etc are not enforceable (unless there is an agreement as stated above)..

It sounds like this parking lot is accessible by the general public and he was cited for Exhibition of speed or reckless driving of some sort so the violation was probably enforceable..

Then they can also change it to Disturbing the peace but I don't think he would want that because it is a misdemeanor and a criminal conviction rather than an infraction.. Misdemeanors carry a penalty of 6 months and/or $1000.00 Fine.

Here at work we had a hit and run, police would not do anything to help catch the bum, we even had a partial plate number. Check out the ownership and if the police had authority within the garage.

ok yes i made a mistake on the fact of messing around trying to set off car alarms.. but in what way shape or form is that a form of careless driving.. thats the only thing.. i dont have a problem with the fact of takeing blame for setting off car alarms. i was in the garage revin my truck mainly for the fact of hearing it amplified. I set off one car alarm then i turned it to the bone head kid that am trying to set off more...

i do take responsibility for my actions when the action matches what im being aproached for.. maybe i will meet someone with more or less respect for me but until then ill wait for them to beat me up. i am a kid and i am here for me to have fun and be responsible maybe my actions wernt to the greatest of powers.. and nor do i mouth off to people.. i respect many things like you all.. and from what you folks are tellin me i have more uf an understanding that i was being disrespectful that night but also i did not hurt anyone or anyones property so how is that really disrespectful..

the fact that i said of them being jealous of my truck was to get a rise out of the folks on this forum maybe it didnt get the reaction i was hoping for but hey i work my rear end off each day so i can keep that truck.. so whatever have a great night people...

LMAO i like to do that to. Just get a lawyer and weasel your way out, ive gotten a 12pt exhibition of speed ticked reduced to 0pts ubstructed windshield and 20 hours of community service, this should be easy might cost you though. So after its over with go get some revenge and set of as many as you can. I guess some people dont have the sense of humor as others. (How many did you set of?)

Be ready to drop about $500 on a lawyer, and he will probably get you a driving class. A careless driving ticket is six points on your license in most states. Thats bs for reving your engine and chirping your tires in a private parking lot. Traffic enforcement is for government streets we pay taxes on not parking lots. We stunt in parking lots all the time on motorcycles, riding wheelies and doing burn outs, all the cops do is either watch or make us leave unless the owner of the parking tells them its ok. carless driving, no. Noise violation ,maybe. If someone set my alarm off on purpose and drained my battery I would be ******, but not enough to cost the person who did it $500 or more

I think what you mean by "sense of humor" is either immaturity, or as CIN said, irresponsibility. I'm 16, and I really don't think there is anything "funny" about setting off car alarms with my truck or "burning out" of parking garages. I really wish people would be a little more responsible, and if they do something dumb at least own up to it and pay the consequences instead of just finding a lawyer and weaseling out of it. It's also pretty sad when you can brag about what you've gotten away with because you wanted to avoid being responsible and living with the consequences of your actions...

P.S. Did you ever stop to think that you're paying the police to do their job, then paying a lawyer to get you out of trouble because the police did their job and stopped you for speeding? I think it'd be smarter to obey the law in the first place.

I don't think this thread is going to end in anything but a dispute over a difference of opinion or attitude.

And how is doing donuts burn-outs and setting off car alarms in a parking structure irresponsible? I don't see how it is in any way irresponsible, or illegal. And, since "careless driving" is a moving violation, I don't see how it could be given to somebody on private property either. (I've used the "private property" excuse a few times to get out of things.) ((On a side note, that excuse doesn't work on public college parking lots or fairgrounds. ))

I think that anybody who's car alarm goes off, without somebody trying to steal the car, should get a ticket for disrupting the peace. Car alarms seriously annoy me, much more than people setting them off. In my eyes, overly sensitive car alarms are much more irresponsible than loud exhaust. Exhaust might make noise for a 10 seconds, a car alarm does it for 10 minutes.

(Oh, and I also want to know how many car alarms were set off... A truck leaving a parking structure that sounds like a 5-alarm fire station kind-of paints a pretty picture. )

Don't get me wrong, I like loud exhausts (my truck has a straight pipe after all) but purposely setting off alarms with it just doesn't seem funny. Not that it's necessarily irresponsible, it just isn't funny to me. I agree they're more annoying than a loud exhaust, but that doesn't make it funny to set them off. Not to mention by setting them off with your loud exhaust, you have annoyed everyone that hears the car alarm go off.

Burnouts in a parking garage, on the other hand, is just irresponsible. What happens when something goes wrong? Say, you attempt to take off doing a burnout, and spin your truck into someone else's car? Think about if someone did that to your truck, then found a lawyer and was able to get away with it.

Setting car alarms off has no point, burnouts in a parking garage is irresponsible.

I just re-read the original post, and I guess Ripper wasn't burning out of the parking garage. Avoiding an accident is another thing altogether.
