Good Trade?

I have a friend that is thinking about trading a 2007 chevy 1/2 ton 4x4, 4 door with 30,000 miles for a 2005 Dodge Cummins 4x4, 4 door with 115,000 miles. They are wanting to give him the Cummins and 2000.00 for the Chevy truck. Does this sound like a good deal. Basically they want 19,000 for the Cummins and are offering 21,000 for the chevy. Thanks.

I see I put this in the wrong forum. I don't know how to move it. Sorry!

Unless he absolutely needs the diesel to make a living and can't float buying one and selling his current truck outright, I don't think that's a great deal.
New p/u, 30k mi, warranty, decent milage vs. over 100k mi, no warranty, smaller backseat (if that's a concern), going to be due for u joints, ball joints, tie rods, etc, auto? How's the trans at 115k? Maybe all that stuff is done already, but what if? Does he do his own work or take stuff to a shop?
With the '07, he's looking at 100k mi before he needs to start worrying about those types of repairs, with the '05, they're likely coming due soon.

New truck under warranty vs. older truck out of warranty. And with the price of Diesel, I'd be a little hesitant. Does he need the Diesel, or is it a want? Can they supply any history of the truck he is looking at?

We went to look at the truck again last night and someone bought it before we got there. He gave 19K for it. You snooze you lose.

There are better deals out there. If he keeps looking I am sure he'll find one. Market for the Diesels is pretty soft right now. Just out of curiosity, is that what the dealer told you the guy gave for it?
