Propane companies used those Chev and GMC's a lot. All the ones I had seen and drove were double framed. They were very stable with loaded three thousand gallon tanks. The company I worked for bought some International and Freightliner trucks, too. The freightliners were good trucks , but the International ones would weave with a loaded tank, because the frame was not stiff enought.

I'm starting to see a good bit of 4500/5500 Dodges around here. Mostly tow trucks I notice.

At the Fire Dept we had a 82 top kick, and currently have a 06 Top Kick, 89 Ford COE, 94 Freightliner FL70, And a 05 Ferra Custom Chassie. Out ot the bunch the 05 Ferra drives the best followed by the Ford, Chevy and the Freightshaker last. The FL70 has a noticeable weave in it. For a while we thought it was the tires but after multiple tire changes it is the truck. As far as driviability and size the Ford wins hands down, The old C8000 drives really well and isnt too big for a beginner. The 05 Ferra is wide so it is hard to drive on the back country roads but it has a 400HP cummins with a jake break and will flat out move.
