Don't Know, but in a few years, I'll let you know.

That is my plan for my next truck:
3500 Chevy Ext. Cab LB 4x4 Single Wheel
8100 Engine --- 6 SPEED

All Debadged, so no one can tell what engine, and a single 4" exhast coming out the side. Then I start it up

I know, I know, Way too much free time.
Chris

Oh Yeah, that is if I can ever get used to driving a Gasser again, this Cummins has me spoiled. Mine's been in the shop for 3 WEEKS getting the oil leaks fixed, Governor Springs, timing, Valve Springs, and KDP Killed. Been driving mom's Suburban, Brothers 454-5spd, and Dad's Chevy 2500HD-6.0-Auto
UGH

WILL BE BACK THURSDAY, THANK THE LORD, I MISS MY TRUCK

you'll get about 10mpg if you're nice to it well under 10 if you're towing heavy...as the mileage gets higher on that truck the fuel economy suffers more and more and the thing starts burning oil......the ONLY reason to get thing is if you HATE diesels for some reason and once you do get it you better work alot with it to pay the bills off...we have a 6liter gmc and we put in 100$ per week just doing landscaping in the summer so add another 40$ to that if u get the 8.1

Not to worry mrT, We did not get that truck.
We did end up with a gasser though.
Had to get what we could afford and what would meet our needs.

She ended up buying a 2000 Ford Excursion.

Hey... its what she wanted.
Its since been lifted with 8" lift and running on 36" M/T rubber with Ultra Type 187 Enforcer wheels.

Not bad... for a Ford.

Where the heck did you find a wife like that? She wanted an Excursion with an 8-in lift?

Got pictures?

Is it a 5.4 or a 6.8V-10? Either way, you might want to read up on 5w-20 oil. I'm using Valvoline Durablend 5w-20 in my Hemi. It doesn't appear to be using any oil. No piston slapping (GM thing)... I almost got an ulcer worrying about the 5w-20 oil requirement until I read up on it at the white lab coats oil forums. While the EPA wants thinner oil for CAFE requirements, the SAE wants it to protect like heavier oil. So ILSAC GF-4 came to be. It's showing better UOA reports than 5w-30 and even 10w-30 non ILSAC oil. Mobile 1 has a 0w-20 that's recommended for use where 5w-20 is called for. Sounds like Chinese tea but works good according to UOA reports. Long term should be good with one member already up to 145k on his E-350 6.8L van used to tow his TT. Ford calls for 5w-20 in the V-10 in F-550's and motor homes. I'm assuming it must be up to the task. Don't put heavier oil in if it calls for 5w-20. A few Ford motors have suffered lack of lube up top with heavier oil leading to camshaft damage. The orifices are apperantly very small. I'll be using synthetic or synthetic blend meeting ILSAC GF-4 and Chrysler's specs. Valvoline Durablend meets both. Ford has their own specs that have to be met. Not too scarey. It's available. Good luck with the new ride! Makes our Durango seem small...

Its the V10.
Hand calculated (accounting for the larger tires) she is averaging 12.5 mpg.

Yes, I think we have pics of it on undeveloped film (No, Im not digital yet).

My eyes did indeed pop out when I heard the oil requirements. It also only has a 5 qt pan. For an engine that size, I just assumed it would be a larger oil pan as well.
Right now, our local Ford shop is doing all the oil changes. We have a neighbor that works there and which cuts the cost down a bit.

She likes big trucks. She likes being able to see above other cars which allows her to see farther down the road.
(It also commands a certain respect from the smaller car traffic ).
