This may be legit or may be a scam but it's the first time that I've heard of getting paid to take a used car. Must be seriously upside down on his payments.

No kidding ... if it's true, someone would be on it in half a heartbeat.
Either the guy is a young kid that really doesn't know how to work his financial obligations or it's a scam.

It could be legit. He could be someone who lives in the barracks with no one close by to take care of the truck therefore the truck would sit in a rot lot for the period of his deployment which could extend up to one year. If that were the case it would be easier for him to sell then buy another when he returned home.

It happens around here alot! Could be totally true.
The penalties to get out of the lease are so high that it is better to get someone to take over the payments for you - if you can, at any cost!
