Generator for a car trailer
I picked up 28' car hauler, with a generator door. So it has no enclosure for th gen to sit in. Would would a good generator be? I'm gonna be runniga air 5 hp air compressor and a small 110V Mig welder, one at a time, on it at most. Any suggestions, also should I build a "house" for it? never owned a trailer with a gen door so never really paid attention to them before.

I have a Troy 5550 watt continuous/8550 surge generator. It has a 13.5 hp Briggs and Stratton eng. and works very well when the power goes off. It handles my 25 cu. ft. refridgerator, my 4500 watt water heater. It will even lets the clothes dryer run on low heat. However, it will not run my 5 hp 220 volt air compressor. The air compressor is on a 30 amp circuit on the house and the generator handles 30 amps 225 volts. But, it will not handle the starting load of the compressor even if I turn all other loads off while trying to run just the compressor.

My air comp is only 110V. How big is this gen? I plan on mounting it in my car hauler. I dont need it to run the house, but in a worse case senerio, ya never know.
