I think you're missing the obvious: get your ladder out and climb on top of the garage. With your climbing rope, make a lasso and lasso one of the higher branches of the tree. With another piece of rope, tie yourself a Swiss seat, then swing over Tarzan-style onto a branch of the tree. Now you can climb up or down as appropriate, and sit comfortably in your Swiss seat while cutting the branches with your chainsaw that you already have.



(I know what you mean about bad landlords, though. My neighborhood would be a much better place if we could get rid of all the slumlords.)

Great theory, but that would mean I'd either have to rig up a second trapeeze for the beer cooler, or make more frequent trips up and down the tree.

The solution to that is obvious, too. Buy a monkey and train him to fetch your beer...
