garage door opener
Lost one of my remotes for my garage door and was wondering if there is such a thing as a universal remote that could be used. kinda like tv remotes
Which get lost all the time here (well misplaced for awhile anyways) I'm sure as soon as I find a replacement remote for the garage the original will suddenly show up Thanks

There are several types available. If it is a genie intellicode they are easy. That's a newer type. They also have the type with the dip switches. You basically need to count your dip switches and buy a universal that is compatible with that number of dip switches. Some operate on an odd frequency if they are older ones. You can buy a new receiver board in that case and it comes with a remote. They are about $80 ( receiver board and remote.) Home Depot carries them here.
