Funny gun story (Big ouch!)
Bristow - Drew Patterson wanted to protect himself after hearing reports of a fugitive in his north-eastern Oklahoma community.
He didn't think he would be nursing a sore rear end.
Aware of an escaped prisoner lurking about, Patterson tucked a .22-calibre pistol into the waistband of his denim shorts. But he left the hammer pulled back, and soon enough the gun went off, shooting the 27-year-old in the left buttock.
"I had good intentions, but I screwed the whole thing up," Patterson said, calling the shooting "one of my most embarrassing moments".
'I had good intentions, but I screwed the whole thing up'
"At first, I didn't feel anything at all," Patterson said on Thursday.
"Then about 30 seconds later, I felt that burning, stinging," followed by something warm trickling down his left leg - blood.
Patterson said he walked into his parents' home and told his mother: "I did something bad."
Patterson was prompted to arm himself by news that Raymond Lee Smith, a 26-year-old facing charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon on a police officer, had managed to escape a Bristow courtroom on Wednesday.
The suspect remained at large on Thursday, while Patterson was recovering from his wound.
Doctors told him to keep walking to avoid complications as the wound healed.
"It hurts fiercely now," he said, walking slowly and gingerly. -

Question. Would it have been better if he had stuffed in the front of his waistband? Perhaps a better result in the whole natural selection process? eg: The strong, the smart, the swift, survive.

Keeps the world turning. Keeps the gun/ bullett manufacturers employed. Job security for medical/law enforcement. Keeps the clothing/ home decor manufacturers working (probably needed a new woredrobe anyway). And of course, the worms hafta eat too........

Well, to avoid accidents like this one, there is a technological breakthrough. The safety-colt.
Should be requred by law for use at bankrobberies, assaults etc.

A .22 will kill somebody if you hit them in the head or you're lucky enough to hit the heart...or a shot to the neck. But still, you gotta be a great shot w/ one of those...and about 2 ft away! DUMB!

DTR's Night Watchman & Poet Laureate
Worked two homicides committed with a 22 long.. and one un-intentional suicide of a drunk who tryed to prove to his drinking buddies( at a family reunion none the less) that a 22 wont penetrate bone......the body jest aint made to have metal thrust thru it no matter what the size....
WHAT AN IDIOT!!
there was a trooper in Ill. back in the early 80's who took a revolver off a guy at a traffic stop who managed to castrate himself very abruptly when he stuck the perps gun in his waistband
I think of it as natural selection, helps prevent the shallowing of the gene pool.
