I don't have to try and slip on the ice. I just get down and do the penguin slide.
44°! 25mph breeze. The ground is just water floating on a thick layer of ice.
I like drinking well water. Not that stuff taken from a swimming pool.
Wife is trying a new diet trick on me, coconut oil.

That's the truth. I'm reminded of a song that repeats in my head the next morning

Thanks for the prayers everyone, she is feeling a lot better today.

Bark, no she didn't get the flu shot but the Dr said the flu she had wasn't covered under this years flu shot...

Evening DTR, work went well, typical Monday. Suppose to get another round of snow starting tonight until tomorrow afternoon. It's lake effect but depending on the winds some areas might get 4 inches others might get up to 18 inches. It was in the 30s here tonight so I grilled some sirloin pork chops, baked taters, and steamed cauliflower/carrots/ broccoli.

Friday I spent the day clearing out the 4 inch snow that fell Thursday. Saturday morning woke up to just enough more to warrant clearing. Started up the 18 hp lawn tractor *** snow blower with the Kawasaki water cooled V twin megabucks engine, drove forward about 6 feet, and listened to the engine try to break itself in half. Pulled the pin on the hydrostatics and pushed her back in the barn.

Built a fire under the walk behind and rope started it. The electric starter just crapped out last week. Spend the day clearing a quarter mile of driveway and the yard with the 2 foot blower. Got way more exercise than I wanted.

Saturday night, I went to build a night fire in the boiler and a brick fell out of place. Critical brick as it protects the mud leg nearest the fire. I thought, no problem, we'll just burn gas and fix it tomorrow.

Went to light the water heater and smelled gas. Control valve chit the bit and was leaking gas from the ****. Not worth blowing the place up for a shower in the morning.

Waited till the boiler cooled down to about 140°, replaced the brick and clip, and fired it up about 2 Sunday morning. Glad it's a low pressure boiler with only about 30 gallons of water/anti-freeze in it.

Sunday, mama prayed for relief from the weather. Today she got her answer. It is "NO". Looking at about -20° in the morning.

I'm praying for global warming.

The way I was taught was to dilute a good whisky with water to cut the alcohol burn until you can tolerate it. This will bring the flavor forward in the whisky. Over time, cut the water back. I like just a dribble of water in mine. kinda wakes up the whisky, but leave enough burn there.
Once you get there, take a sip and try to pick out the flavors. the vanilla, the tannins, the char,

Fronty, I used to drink Scotch like that. Than "something" happened and now just the smell of it makes me want to hurl.
Evening all.

Great, now we have two more days of this stuff forecast.
Couple of years ago all the snow melted than we got that -20f stuff. Makes buried pipes real unhappy.

I bought a few 16oz jars of that at Trader Joe's in Calif two years ago. It was $3.99. Noticed the price has doubled.

That's what confuses me. Our Doctor said the current flu shot doesn't cover H1N1 but the CDC (and some news outlets) say it does.

I am always disappointed with how small of a blob they turn into.
I still have my Grandfathers bridge. He said he would haunt us if we buried him with it. It contains more gold than everything I got last year.

I will try and get a picture. It is really well done.

Heidi! I think this combo Headphone/Helmet will finally solve the wind noise problem I was having with listening to music while on the bike.

Now I just gotta get it DOT and Snell approved but I don't see a problem with it.

Wow, you guys are getting it up there. I now remember why I left Minnesota. ...................................We have been getting some chilly days, but I will not complain. Our high today will be 76. Chilly tomorrow with a high about 60 and 40 low - - orchids will get to come in again tomorrow night. They love it in the house. LOL

Not much else going on. Glad for the healing process with several. Not fun being sick. OK, off to win another war - - I hope.

Bob

janitor is really busy-and cranky! we had better send him some love or a paycheck.....jeeze, 9 calls. I have to remind him I had a 100% success at debt collecting. thanks for the tolerant voice mail. I will still send out your Bday gift from the hardware store....

finished the Harley rebuild. appearantly, I LIKE 5 degree weather....(40 degree barn though, yee haw)

here's for you JMartin and freezing folks....the water was 78 degrees; air 88

Even things like "badger badger badger badger" can ruin a good nights sleep.

Hey Sis. You already have an acetylene torch. Spend $20 bucks on a graphite crucible for some fast easy melting.
My Dad always sprinkled a little boric acid powder in the flakes (its cheap) but I don't remember why.

Its above freezing again and we are getting more water on top of the ice.
The sun is out, its raining and sometime during the night a moose (or killer shrews) ate my Raspberry plants to a stub again.
Oh well, what the heck. Its still better than what some of you are going through.

Morning yall.

Looks like everyone is plugging away today. Good. Keep moving so toes don't freeze. Except you JWBM, keep moving so you get an even tan.

It's raining here now. About to nurse a cup of coffee. While at the dealership this morning I got chills and felt a little trembly and weak here and there. I wonder if I am coming down with something. I hope not.

Did i ever tell you guys that some folks can't drive? Had about 3 or 4 inches of snow and 35 mph winds after I got to work today. SNOWMAGEDDEN!!! Saw no less than 5 cars exit I65 and do donuts at the bottom of the off ramp.

Be safe out there, some of these folks may be coming your way...
