France is on fire!

France is on fire!
This is what happens when a society allows immigrants to come to their country and NOT assemilate into it. The immigrants do not learn French, then they cannot work, they can only live is areas where people speak their own launguage. Unemployments rises, so does frustration and hopelessness, dispair, and it boils over into riots until the government has to act. France is on a collision course with their liberal immigration policies.
Kinda makes you wonder why we are not closing the borders here! If we continue to allow whole segments of our society to not learn English guess what? We'll be on fire!
A society must have a common thread of language and culture. This does not mean you give up your heritage, but for the good of the society there must be a common language.

While I could care less what happens in France I certainly agree that, we, as an English speaking nation should strive to keep it that way.
How many times have you been to an ATM that asks you which language you would like to use? English or Espanol? Why is that even a question? The next thing you know they will have a scroll wheel on the ATM for the 6,809 currently classified languages.
We live in a country that speaks English. If we were in France running our mouths in English the French would look at us and get irritated, but when we do that here we are looked upon as not politically correct.
We need to stop trying to please and comfort everyone.

Yeah looks like France certainly has a few issues to resolve. I'm lovin it to tell the truth.
I think Syria has something to do with it since France has been siding with the U.S and leaning on them (Syria) bigtime about blame for the assassination of the President of Lebanon. Syria is in there stiring up trouble as a warning to the Chirac government. HAHA!
You won't here that on the news though.

The problem is not with the ATM machines, tourists need to use them too.
The problem is with all the government forms, especialy those one fills out for "FREE" stuff, it is with bi-lingual education, and so on and so on. You get my point. We should demand better, take that from someone who came here and learned English.

Believe it or not…. I kind of agree with Geico (put that in you signature). I not as concerned with what is happing in France so much as I am more concerned with what is happing in America. Now I don’t agree with someone saying that they love what is happing in France. A lot of people are suffering over there through no fault of their own.
We as a nation are a melting pot. I have an Irish background. My best friend looks like he just stepped off the boat from Spain. I don’t have any of the answers to today’s problems but I agree that we need to do something soon. Closing the borders is not an option. But having a country with multiple languages isn’t an option either. I, like you don’t really like having to choose between English and Spanish every time I call the bank, credit card co., pizza place, or veterinarian. If I am ever lucky enough to go to Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, etc. I will at least take the time to try and learn some key phrases.
So. What is the solution?
And no, I am still Liberal.

I'm kinda split on the "Speak English or go home" scenario these days.
That used to be my credo until I became the foreigner who couldn't speak the language. Granted ... there is a difference between reasons for my being here and those in our country for whatever reason ... but I will tell you that it isn't as easy to just "learn english" as it seems.
Not saying that it isn't the right thing to do ... but I am sure a lot more tolerant and humble these days. ***Of course I am still not too hip on the French ... they have good food, that's about it.
