Your tax dollars at work...

At least she won't be on welfare after the first installment arrives.

I am not rich, yet I have always had a job since I was fourteen and never been on any kind of public aid. Forty years of employment with 37 years on my latest job...

I hear you. I've been continuously employed since I was 17, and had summer jobs from age 14. I stopped playing the lotto when I came to the realization the only people who ever won were the very same people standing in line with a welfare check or food stamps, and their spouse in a different checkout stand with the beer, cigarettes and whiskey. I decided I'm already giving them my tax dollars for welfare, so why should I augment their potential lottery winnings?

She's an idiot.

However, if it hadn't been for food assistance, we'd a had a rough winter. Just because you have had steady employment doesn't mean you may sometime soon not. This economy is pretty indiscriminant when it comes to who's next.

25 years in the cement finishing trades and only kickin up about 1 day a week anymore. Pretty miserable.

Mid 30-something GS-13 (>$80K yr) at work.
Receives Government monthly money card for using public transportation.
Drives his Porsche 911 to work every day.
Has a 2 yr old 26 foot SeaRay in a waterside dock near Annapolis, MD.
Just had a baby.
Bragged yesterday that he is receiving $350 in food stamps each month because his wife is "unemployed" (took maternitiy leave from her job in an lawyer's office.)
Says that money that he is saving is being used making all of his utility payments, and cell phone bills.

Sees nothing wrong with what he is doing.

Is a BIG fan of the current President..... figures.

there are people who really need assistance. Unfortunately, the majority are giving those people a bad image.

Isn't total household income taken into account when determining food stamp eligibility?
