Re:Favorite Oil

Maybe its just my nose or maybe its the 03 ;D, but there was no "Rosemella" smell when I did my oil change. Rotella is available everywhere and at Sam's its around 36 bucks for 6 gallons. Sam's also carries Delo for a buck or two cheaper than Rotella, but I've used Rotella on the diesel tractor for years and been happy with it. Tough to beat those prices for a quality oil.

Re:Favorite Oil

I use Rotella, although I HATE that smell! Gotta drive it around town for about 50 miles after the change to get it to go away!

Very hard to beat the price of delo 400. FREE!!! My buddy keeps a truck full of gallons about a block away from me. And I am the foreman on that job.

Re:Favorite Oil

My vote is for Chevron Delo 400. It has a great Group II+ basestock that rivals the "botique" synthetics, is readily available over-the-counter and is reasonably priced.

The synthetics IMO are a waste of money in the crankcase. Been there, done that. Fine for the axles, transmissions, and transfer cases, where the fluid change interval is not that often, and the high cost can be justified.

[/quote]Well, one of thost "others" was for Delvac 1300 Super before it was added to the poll. And now I can't vote for it. Perhaps an admin or moderating type could take away one vote from "other" and add it to Delvac 1300 Super?

Re:Favorite Oil

I was running Delo 400 and the truck ran great. I switched to Rotella and I swear to god it idled smoother and ran smoother.

Re:Favorite Oil

Rotella still pretty far in the lead. I guess I'm not surprised as much as everyone talks about it. Guess I'll be buying Rotella for my first oil change this weekend... ;D
