Fat Kids: why does Stove cooked food taste better than Microwave?
i always cook in Microwave - wife always uses Stove.
what ever she makes, be it ramen noodles (got that truck payment, you know)
or some frozen food. it always tastes a bit better.
even chicken noodle soup seems better off the stove.
what gives?
comfort food seems much better when she makes it.
and before Hoss posts up...it's not because i'm lazy and it just tastes better when she delivers to me on the couch....or maybe it is?

a saltine cracker is pretty good if your hungry and have smelled it long enough.
I would say its because of the more consistant heating of the food.

I think it's actually because of the uneven heating of the food. The parts that come in contact with the skillet get nice and brown and tasty. Same with baked, toasted stuff. Microwaves heat from the inside out so the browning doesn't happen.

As to the difference in taste, is it possible that it's because it cooks slower so you have more time to smell and anticipate it? After all, a major portion of taste is in the aroma. Just a thought.

I was told that a microwave ruins most of the nutritional value of food and that was why the taste is not as inviting to our taste buds . I have been fighting a neurological disease for years and finally gave up on the regular doctors as I was going down hill fast and went to a person who uses a naturopath form of medicine and one of the first things on the list to do was get rid of the microwave . He even told me not to put vitamins with in 15 feet of the microwave when it is running because it will greatly decrease their value . My health has greatly improved using his advice , so I believe . I don't think it is as important with someone who has excellent health but very important to someone who is trying to heal .

When is the last time you were at the doctor? Do you know what your blood pressure is? If you are eating those with any regularity I would suggest you get looked at as soon as possible. I'm not trying to scare you, but even an extremely healthy individual eating those noodles on a regular basis is a candidate for hypertension.

I think it has to do with teh speed of cooking... lots of things I make are spiced, ect., and to me the micro doesnt give the flvaors time to develop. As well as the un-even heating ...
Nothing is as good out of the nuke-box as it is from the stove-top.......
