Heck, 13.5 is not fast at all especially for a grand natinal. I have a 5800 pound truck that will click off low 12s all day long.
A 600cc sportbike getting beat by a car is defiently a rider not knowing how to ride.
A new 600cc sportbike I can click off mid-high 10s on it.

i dont know some of the motors they are puttin in these bikes today are BIG. my friend who ive known about 8 years is building a custom bike and looked at a 145"motor that put out 150-160hp he is going to go a little smaller because of the price of the 145. he is going to get a 111, or a 124 and they both have over 100hp i also know of a guy that went about 150mph but had to stop because his helmet started silping down over his eyes. just be carefull because you never know what someone has on a bike. chris

Harleys are sllllloooooooowwwwwww - they are possibly the most over-rated machines on the planet. I can beat a harley in every category but resale for 1/10 the price. I picked up this bike in 1987 for 2200 bucks- and it still will run low 11s with me on it all day, and with a smaller guy is easily a 10 second bike, bone stock (I have managed to squeeze one 10,99 out of it in a whole summer of bracket racing, have a handfull of 11.00 slips) -it will get more mileage, handle better, go up to have 176mph top speed, and do it all more comfortably.
Harleys are for the RUBs IMO- Rich urban bikers. I think my lawnmower will beat a V-rod LOL

That sure looks like my old Sabre.
Got a few tickets on that, haven't gotten one yet on my Harley wannabee Shadow.
One I had the speedo pegged, the cop only gave me a ticket for 85, as that's when I slowed down for him to catch me.
Built in 1982, I got it in 1989 and sold it in 1997.
Bullet bike before there were bullet bikes.

Very easy to stay on.
Mine had a half fairing though, so the wind was cut a little.

Ed, tell us about that geezer glide - in case we see each other on the GW Parkway when I'm in the 'Stang. I'm not worried if I'm on the 'Zook.
If the rider is a nugget, its not that hard to take a bike in a roll on. Done it many times in the 'Stang. And by the time they realize they've been caught with their pants down, it takes a long time to catch up - and most can't.
It would take an incredibly rare car on the road to take a decent rider on a new 600 Sportbike or above at the quarter mile.
I always liked those old 1100 Sabre's. But 176mph? Is that radar'd speed, or speedometer speed? Big difference - Japanese speedo's have always been noted to read notoriously fast above the ton. Its kind of like boat speeds: there are three. One you tell the insurance company, one you tell the guys at the bar; and the one you read off the GPS.

now if we are talking knee scrapers thats different those are fast. my nabor races at sears point and he lives for bikes. no one would have a chance against him. i have personaly seen him race a paint shaker (HD) and pass the guy on one wheel. he has two GSXR 1000 and some others. that top out around 180 with the gearing. if he changes the gearing he would be able to go well over 200mph but i think bad things start happening around 200mph. chris

From the V4 web pages:
http://www.angelfire.com/ma3/VPower/GBook.html
Top left of Page 212, of the 1985 Guinness Book Of World Records
Here is a run down year for year what was the fastest Motorcycle in the Guinness Book.(I Collect Guinness Books also)
1980=Dunstall Suzuki GS1100CS
1981=Dunstall Suzuki GS1100CS
1982=Dunstall Suzuki GS1100CS
1983=Dunstall Suzuki GS1100CS
1984=Dunstall Suzuki GS1100CS
1985=Honda V65 Magna
1986=Honda V65 Magna
1987=Honda V65 Magna
1988=Honda V65 Magna
1989=Honda V65 Magna
1990=Kawasaki ZX10
I guess my point is- to me, harleys are wastes of metal mostly made for boutique urban bikers that want to feel tough after a hard week of accounting LOL
Incredibly over priced, incredibly slow, incredibly bad handling, incredibly unreliable.
I am pretty sure my daughters battery operated toy yard jeep could pretty much kick thier collective *edit LOL

my bmw r100rt w/65hp is only 14.5 sec or so in the 1/4 But its a touring bike and I love touring bikes. Next on the list is the bmw r1150rs with 119hp or so. Needs some slight tweeking though to make for a smoother ride.

Hmmm, "Design Speed" for a V65 Magna. What the heck is design speed? I call that "bar speed". A Magna on a Closed Course - I bet thats what Honda had in mind for that puppy.
Since you posted that you collect those Books, maybe you could post a pic of that page with you and your bike on it for us all to see.
CR, lastly, your pic isn't a V65 Magna either. hehehehe I wonder if you even own a bike; it sounds like you're a disgruntled wannabee.
You should ride a tc88 - not bad ......
Ride Safe.
