Question Dyson Vaccum Cleaners

Anyone got a Dyson? If so does it work well? It intrigues me as to how it can work without filters and bags.

Wifey has also been seduced by the Dyson side of the force.
She's planning on buying one later today.
Those things run about $400 for one with all the bells & whistles.

Not the answer to your question, but something interesting I found on CNN.com about the Dyson. It was invented by the gentleman that designed/invented the original Mini car. Here is the Link .

We have one and it is unbelievable how well it sucks! Anyway we vaccumed our rug with the old vac and then the Dyson and could not believe the crap that it picked up. I suggest you get the one with the little hand vac. attachment as it does a fantastic job on the furniture. Another surprise as to how much it sucked out there. Just my .02.

Is that the vacuum that spins the air so fast inside in a vortex that the dirt is forced out? Something like tornado force wind velocity or something?

I think the consumer reporter/watchdog guy is going to "buy it and try it" sometime this week.

Most of the stuff he "buys and tries" isn't what it claims to be, and this being "ratings sweeps month", I bet he rips them to shreds.

Consumer Reports does not rate them very high. Dyson was rated #9. I just bought a Sears upright for $230. Rated #2 by consumer reports. The bagless ones are way overrated. No matter how fast the air spins it cannot possibly spin all the dust and alergins out of the air. A bag with a help filtration system is the only way to go for the money.

$400 for a vacuum cleaner? Give me a break!

I used to sell them and all the customers that I talked to later loved them. They told me how much they picked up that their old ones never did. I also don't see hardly any come back.

I got the Animal it comes with all of the accessories. I does all right but $500 is kind of high. It uses air to power the cleanning tools. I like the hand driven electric Dirt Devil for doing the truck the brushes have more power with the electric. Like everything one type does not do it all. It gets clogged just like the others but is easy to take apart.

If you are a professional vacuum cleaner operator, I guess the Kirby line is the best that you can get. But I would rather put that $3000 or so towards hardwood lol.
