Dunkirk / Muncie Indiana Area Members ?
Guys,
I am considering a new job out in Dunkirk/Muncie Indiana area. What I was wondering if anyone here lives in this area and what it is like. I have been to Muncie and Indy area times before, but was more so wondering what the people/area was like. Cost of living? Crime? Any imput would be appreciated.
This is for a job in the Dunkirk area for Saint Gobain Glass.
TIA,
GRD

Depends on what you are looking for. I was born and raised there ( Winchester ), and spent many, many hours in that plant before St.G. bought it.
People are just typical Midwesterners, they don't assume too much, don't mess with you, generally are salt of the earth. Come at them with an attitude and you will be shown the short way home. Tend to be more clannish though, you won't really be a local for many years.
Crime? Been many years since I lived there, but generally rural areas are still pretty crime free based upon my friends reports. I guarantee you there are parts of Muncie you don't want to go into without a sidearm, but that was the case 20 years ago when I lived there.
Cost of living is cheap........unless Pa. has gotten much cheaper than it used to be.
For giggles, if you can, what Job are you looking at at SG?
You can PM me if you don't want it public.
