NINE, yes NINE, that the number in between 8 and 10.... NINE

Burn throughs on the bead alone.

He went ballistic. Almost ran off the entire firing line.....
Hey, you know I'm no pipeliner, but why are 'THEY' making one weld? Does it really take more than one welder to lay down one 36" bead? I would think they'd all be bumping into each other.

But I'd say he'd have justification to have a conniption. One welder or forty, 9 burn-thru's is ridiculous!

API 1104 (standard pipeline code) requires a brother in law for any pipe over 12" in diameter. It has to do with equal heat distribution and to keep one side from pulling and cracking the bead.

They work accross the pipe from each other, one welder for each side, downhill, Start at 12 and meet at 6.

WOW! Downhill welding? REALLY? I COULD DO THAT! I've always ran UPhill because that's the way I've been taught/tested. It's a pain in the butt, but I can do it. I LOVE running downhill tho. I can get better penetration and a better looking weld. Where do I sign up?

I could do downhill stick. What rod? What heat? Polarity?

Someday the pipelining world will catch up and discover the benefits of wire feed!

5/32 bead 3/16 HP, Fill and Cap

Parameters are so wide you cant miss em. DC+ polarity.

We do use wire feed on automatic setups. In this terrain its just not logical or productive.

Nite!

There is nobody here!
~~I was trying to find the posts I made last year, the year before etc, etc. regarding the disappearance of most of the people in the breakroom during summer.
~~I don’t think it has anything to do with the nice weather, it is actually a result of the increase in solar flares that happen to coincide with these months.
~~Since most DTR dwellers are either crazy or aliens, the flares interfere with their ability to pass themselves off as normal and they can only communicate with bleeps and flashing lights.
~~Its just a theory but if you see any weird lights in the sky or noises between radio channels it may be one of our own running amok until after the solstice. What the heck are these things called ~~. Just found them on my keyboard~~~~. Pretty sure they werent here before~~. Hmmm, maybe its time for bed~~
