Heidi, stand-bye to stand-bye. Didn't even make it north on my long weekend last weekend. Next week I have a conference at the Kettunen Center in Tustin. I don't have a good place for visitors to stay down here, though. I have the 7th -10th weekend off. I'm kinda on cloud-9 right now though. Word is, someone at Negaunee is retiring which means one of my dreams may come true. They should be posting a position up there next month. If I got that I'd be living in God's Country, just like OFC. Marc.

Not sure where I'm gonna hang this set. These ones might actually get mounted.....

My wheeler is a sportsman 500HO. The thing is a beast! I don't think I'd ever go bigger. This thing hauls anything I need it too and then some. But definitely get a winch.... You never know....

And this wasn't the worst one......

yeah, i hear ya- love my HO and don't want anything bigger. this did a low speed flip on my son when he was 16, I ran over and flipped it off him. couldn't do that with the monsters they have out now. flattened right down the middle by a winter tree, fixed and still going....

here's my moose and some fun pic from our local zoo...

Also, the few feathers you found in the first tree may actually be where the attack began, not where lunch started. That's what I figure, since all the feathers are over there. Guess I didn't make my explanation very clear up there (coffee hadn't made it to my veins yet)

Somewhere there's another bird going "You're not going to believe this. Bob was just sitting on this branch when POW, a hawk swooped down and knocked him to the ground, ripped of his head and flew away with him. It's a good thing he didn't come after me that way. I'd rip his head off, that's what I'd do, yeah, rip his head off. And, and then I'd poop in his chest! I ain't scared of no stinking hawk, I ain't"

I'll recheck the area. The missing head has me thinking now about a meat bird...err raptor. Also something weird yesterday. I walked out on the deck in the evening and something startled in the trees and bush. I didn't see it, but I heard it. It didn't run on the ground either. Anyway, I don't like visitors in my yard, human or animales unless I invite them. I am that possessive about my property!

I gotta get that carcass out of the tree. Don't need to attract anything else.
Sounds like a classic case of a Chupacabra attack. Be very careful!!

Evening gang. Got that tooth fixed! I'll rank that pain in my top 5 of all time. Doc did an emergency root canal and removed the nerves. Apparently the roots were abscessed. Weird because the tooth showed no signs of a cavity.

This coming Saturday is the only public thing I know of. Most of the rest of the time we're in schools. Not sure about the weekends yet.

The only cavity you have is between your ears.

Seriously tho, glad you got that fixed quick. Tooth problems are the WORST!

Just came back from calling hours/visitation for a friend I grew up with. He was 55 and died on his birthday. Didn't feel well while at work, they talked him into going to the hospital to get checked out, coded while enroute in the ambulance and that was it. Funeral tomorrow. His dad died in a tornado in Florida 13 years ago. Hate this stuff but glad I was back here to show a little support to his mothers, brothers, (who I also grew up with), and family. We called him 'Lumpy' because he looked just like the character on 'Leave it to Beaver'. Great guy and will be missed by many.

On to better, more cheerful things! Cincy, now that you got one end straightened out you can concentrate on that infection you told me about!

Well for what it is worth, I would be honored to have either one of you at my funeral. I am sure you will represent the best of both those guys!

Stihl stinks though

Yes it does, either way you choose to interpret that.

Thank you Jeff.

Tough times for both of you. You'll both have kind thoughts and a prayer from here.

wow. sorry to hear that scottybro. we'll be poulan for you....
eric glad you got that taken care of, albeit painfully. Prayers for Jake's family
(you are so in trouble Jeff- like laughing in church)

callers to rent the apartment are just Obama voters some times....
almost funny to be polite to them:

(renting a studio apartment) "was this an art studio or like, a tv one?"
"my wife and I are in a motel. She can't work and I am looking for a job, will you cook and clean for us too? we don't know how."
"I want it near a bus route (it isn't) well does rent include driving me to where I need to go? (no) well that's not very friendly(you're right, thank you for calling).
"credit check, why? I am old and have enough bills I can't pay! that's why i have to move!"
"yes, it's just me that will live there full time. But my boyfriend is staying with me till he goes to Court, and he has visitation with his kids, I let his mom stay over when she babysits then."

long day, very glad we do not HAVE to rent it out. 2 contenders tomorrow.

would you rent to some of the DTR folks here?

Heck I'd rent it if it included suit of armor building lessons, and big ol tree movin workshops. And lets not forget the opportunity to watch a real life buckin camel rider...

Why the heck am I in trouble??? No body even heard me laughing, and I took the gum off the back of the seat in front if me after I choked on it and spit it out.

Here is a story and how I look at death. When My grandmother passed, everyone was very very sad and distraught. Prior to her passing we talked about her passing and she told me to take note. She told me the ones who 'look' most distraught will be the ones who never call, never help, never shovel snow, etc. She told me the ones who were happy and joyful will understand that she was back with her husband and happy as the day she was married. Everyone was frowning and scoffing at me, but the joke was on them. She was in a much better place with the one that she loved most.

At the funeral.. I laughed and smiled, probably the best memory of my grandmother to this day is the one of her sitting up in her coffin and scarring the crap out of everyone standing around... Ok that didn't happen but she really wanted to do it.

Boy I miss that ol girl. SHE WAS FUN!!!
