It's no wonder we can't get REAL seafood out here, all you mid-westerners just kill it trying to cook it!

I still do that every morning. Just because I don't announce it don't mean everyone has to have a fit about it!

I'm sure there are 'Miss America Tribute' games and such as well, but I try not to pay any more attention than I have to. It's not about the game and players skills anymore, it's about how much money can be generated.

Morning all.

Today is Wednesday, August 2nd.

On this day in 1666 - The Great Fire of London broke out. The fire burned for three days destroying 10,000 buildings including St. Paul's Cathedral. Only 6 people were killed.

1775 - Hannah, the first American war vessel was commissioned by General George Washington.

1789 - The U.S. Treasury Department was established.

1864 - During the U.S. Civil War Union forces led by Gen. William T. Sherman occupied Atlanta following the retreat of the Confederates.

1901 - Theodore Roosevelt, then Vice President, said "Speak softly and carry a big stick" in a speech at the Minnesota State Fair.

1945 - Ho Chi Minh declared the independence the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

1961 - The U.S.S.R. resumed nuclear weapons testing. Test ban treaty negotiations had failed with the U.S. and Britain when the three nations could not agree upon the nature and frequency of on-site inspections.

1969 - Ho Chi Minh died. He was the president of North Vietnam.

Not much on hunting the tree rats but love to take new hunters out after them. A great way to start teaching conservation to the kids. Dont taste to awful bad neither.

Good then, you can take the loft. I HATE square bales!! Round bales are nothing but riding on a tractor.

Well now I didnt clarify. I like round bailing. Square are ok in limited quantities but they quickly become work and a lot of it.

Good Heavens, Claude. Sounds like the most delicious way to have a heart attack I have ever heard. Wow, you might even have tempted me to nibble a bit. Wow, what a feast.

I hear rumbling outside, so probably up for another rain - - been lots lately. Amazing how fast the grass and WEEDS are growing. Poor yardman can't keep up with the shrubbery. Florida in the summer.

OK, off to do some work at my sis-in-laws house. Her front door lock broke so she has to come in the garage with the opener. Just waiting for her to forget to put the thing in her purse. Grabbing my ph00 and out of here. Have a gudurn.

Its great when neighbors get along. We have always had great neighbors. And I like to keep it that way.

But... we got a problem that just blew up yesterday. This one fella that just moved in down the road, well, Weve got a blood feud about to erupt... the you know what shot my dads dog yesterday! My mom, myself and the rest of the family are pretty devastated over it.

My dad wants to go talk to him when he comes in this weekend. Guy said he really didnt know whos dog it was, and that he didnt care either way. (Dog was still young and had wondered, first time hes ever done that). Thing is is wasnt even on his property, it was on a friend of ours property, he just took it upon himself to kill my (familys) dog.

Dad wants to keep the peace. I dont. You dont just kill another mans dog for crying out loud. Poor Champ never hurt a soul, he was a easy going as a dog gets... really goofy actually, a doggy doofus.

Fella that shot him has got a nice 08 3500 6.7, Its gonna smart when I pass a .50 through that thing. Im just trying to decide if Im gonna do it before or after I stomp all over him.

Congrats Claude! Hope mom and baby are both doing fine.

Blake, I've got to admit I'm torn on this one. I agree with you and your dad. Most places have leash laws and when you let the dogs roam you sometimes have to face the consequences of that action. On the other side of the fence, I have to ask, who saw him shoot the dog? It may be possible to bring a charge along the lines of reckless endangerment for discharging the weapon or an animal cruelty charge for shooting the dog. It's a sticky area, especially if there's a leash law. I'd ask someone in law enforcement in your area to see what avenues are available to you but stay away from the guy until your dad sorts it out.

Congrats Claude! Beautiful Little Girl!

Yeah Fellas,

Im just blowing some, still upsetting though. Ive calmed down a bit. Im gonna go with Dad to talk with him and Ill be civil as long as he is too.

Thing is my brother was in the neighbor hood, ON DUTY mind you (he's working at my old department), and stopped by my folks to say hi. My mom told him Champ went missing. Slade was riding around looking for him and the guy flagged him down and told him that he had shot him. He knew who the dog belonged to in the first place and that it wasn't a stray. The area we live in, all the neighbors, maybe 4 or 5 households in a 5 sq mile area, all have dogs and we all know each others pets.

Im well versed in Louisiana Statutes, (former Lieutenant with the S.O.) and so is my brother. My parents would be in violation of the parish ordinance for leash law, 50 dollar fine.

The other guy however is in violation of Aggravated Cruelty to Animals and that a much stiffer penalty.

I dont condone what he did, and myself would have called the dogcatcher for a stray, unless they pose an immediate danger to our livestock or to any of the neighbor hood kids. Just angers me so much he couldnt do the same. My brother said his wife made the comment that the guy had shot her dog for tearing up the insulation under his house.

I really dont want to have a feud going on in the neighborhood. Everyone here has keys to each other houses, trucks, barns, etc. Its more like a family than just neighbors, I grew up with all the kids my age and now our kids are growing up together. I guess I should just be level headed and talk it over with him and let it go. I just hate to see my mom and sister so tore up over it. They just lost a family member.
