Don't waste your money Claude. Wait until you can get a proper 600mm lens if that's what you want. The optical doublers you speak of leave a LOT to be desired. First of all, they rob a lot of light. Combine that with a fast setting and it will need to be run wide open all the time. Secondly, while they may double your focal length, they also double the degradation of the image, partly because of the wide open setting, but also because of the focal length itself. This is why long lenses are soooo expensive. The optics needed to maintain image quality and light volume in a decent lens are of laboratory grade.

Get up, GET UP, GET UP! Everyone up where I can see them! Um... I mean, up and at 'em!

Here's your history report for Tuesday, August 04. 2009;

On this day in 1735 - Freedom of the press was established with an acquittal of John Peter Zenger. The writer of the New York Weekly Journal had been charged with seditious libel by the royal governor of New York. The jury said that "the truth is not libelous."

1753 - George Washington became a Master Mason.

1790 - The Revenue Cutter Service was formed. This U.S. naval task force was the beginning of the U.S. Coast Guard.

1892 - Andrew and Abby Borden were axed to death in their home in Fall River, MA. Lizzie, Andrew's daughter, was accused of the killings but was later acquitted.

1914 - Britain declared war on Germany in World War I. The U.S. proclaimed its neutrality.

1944 - **** police raided a house in Amsterdam and arrested eight people. Anne Frank, a teenager at the time, was one of the people arrested. Her diary would be published after her death.

So all your family joined the Navy so they could all fly around in airplanes? Hmmmmm

Claude, go to Craigslist or look for state sites where they get rid of lost property. Also try the unclaimed baggage store in Alabama or Oregon Supply on ebay.

It really, really REALLY pains me to have to agree with Scott so early in the morning, but he is right on this one, Claude. Don't waste your money. I have tried extenders and mutlipliers and ended up with the same problems. Low light conditions - - forget it. Decreased resolution. Do it right and get the 600 with the largest lens you can afford. Just make sure you will use it enough to warrant the expense. The only add on lens that I have found acceptable is a wide angle. They are short, little decrease in light, and decent res -- I use one on my movie camera and my still.

Well, headed out to buy more paint - - and rollers - - and try to find a dose of patience out there somewhere - - maybe go take the pole and lob a shrimp in the pass and see what happens - - sounds like more fun than painting. YEH. Grabbing my ph00 and out of here. Have a gudurn,
Bob

The only way I would recommend a 2X was if you were shooting a Sasquatch. It would interfere with the first shot but the second should pass right through. Wouldn't you agree Bob?

Mornin' All!

Got a bit of sleep last night. Maybe i'll get my internal clock back on schedule. Switching back and forth from days to night every other day will really goof you up......

I have a few more days off til my regular shift starts so I gotta get some work done around the house. Yard needs mowed and watered, Truck needs washed even though the ash is still falling, etc.

Kids go back to school in 2 weeks also. Had to do some School shopping last night. Taht stuff adds up fast. I could swear I gave them all of the same stuff last year where'd it all go?
