Question Downloaded Spysweeper from Webroot - Now Fonts Changed

Title says it all. I downloaded Spysweeper from Webroot last night. Pretty good software, I might add.

However.....it changed all the fonts on my desktop, Outlook, and internet. Now there is "shadowing" behind the icons on my desktop, and the fonts are all different on the Internet.

I went to Control Panel->Display, and looked at all the settings there, but nothing I can do seems to change this.

Anyone have experience on how I can get my display back? I would do a system restore, but, then I would lose what I just downloaded, and paid for.

Thanks.

Have you tried changing the fonts in Outlook and Explorer?

Not sure how to do that. I don't think it's that, though. My desktop icons and fonts are different has well.

Sorry to hear of your problems. Cut your loses and restore the system. Download and use Microsoft's Antispyware, which does a much better job and is free. While no single anti spyware software gets rid of everything, after installing a couple of dozen copies my experience has shown SpySweeper just doesn't do as good of job as some other products out there. It's definately not as good as Microsoft's.

I prefer bullet proof softwares spyware remover. I have run other spyware scanners then ran the bps afterwards and it picked up a ton of stuff that the others missed.

I appreciate the responses on what Spyware programs work (I also use AdAware and Spybot), but does anyone else have any suggestions on my question in this thread:

How do I get my original fonts and display back?

Thanks.

OK, I found it!

Control panel->display->appearance->effects:

"use the following method to smoorth edges of screen fonts" - mark this STANDARD.

I'm back to normal. I think.

Part of your spyware problems could be Spybot. I'd recommend dumping it. Many IT people swear it is full of syware, itself. Ad-Aware SE is good.

Adaware SE is great. It scans very quickly and does a decent job. I use it also for quick scans. I use the BPS for deep scans. It always seems to catch things that adaware left behind.

I run Adaware, Microsoft and Spybot. My system is finally as clean as I can get it. Usually none of the three pick anything up. I run all three every session right before I shut down. I also turn my modem to standby when I'm not using the computer.
