Down shift at 70 MPH ??

Down shift at 70 MPH ??

Has any one, while travling at 70 mph or faster, in OD, had a auto tranny, for some unknown reason down shift into 3 ? ???
I expearenced this the other day, didn't know what was going on at first till I saw the light on, on the OD button.

So! does anyone know just what is going on when this happens?

OH Sick.

Re:Down shift at 70 MPH ??

I've left mine in 3rd at 80 mph before for a couple of miles. Haven't seen any long term effects. Sat right at 3200 rpm.

Blue: Did you purposely do that or did the tranny mysteriously down shift because of a malfunction ?

Oh Sick

Re:Down shift at 70 MPH ??

Hey not a problem, reason I asked is cause I was in cruise at 75 and not thinking hit the button to down shift, I thought I lost an engine. Noise was unreal. Tach went to 3300 but no problem. I guess we all do some dumb things sometimes.
