A 65-year-old man who was knocked off his bicycle by three teenagers on a Pennsylvania trail shot two of them, killing one, police said according to reports.
The paper said the mother of the slain boy, 16, asked officials not to release his name until she had been able to tell other members of the family what happened.
The incident happened on the Thun Trail near a bridge over the Schuylkill River, between Reading and West Reading just after noon Wednesday.

Although I feel killing the kid was a little much, maybe this kind of thing should happen more often (not killing them, but the threat of repercussions)
Kids today are fearless because our society brainwashes them into thinking that they're "untouchable" by any adults... regardless of the situation.
Maybe this will serve as a lesson to others who think it's "OK" to randomly attack someone innocent, just because they see others doing it on You Tubbe.

THREE preditors attacking ONE 65 year old man in a remote area, and defending his life was a little much?
Should he "shoot to wound"?
I'd buy him a beer.

Stupid gets what stupid deserves!
The other two are probably done jumping old guys, at least for a while.
I support the old guy 100%, if it happened more often we could skim some stupid out of the gene pool!

Yup. I just hope they don't try to rake the old guy over the coals.

I'd like to hear his side of the story instead of just a brief synopses of an incident in a newspaper. Without all of the facts of how, what and why, it's difficult for me to pass judgment on anyone in the story. For if anyone knows, the old guy could either be grateful for being alive, or distraught over taking some stupid kid's life. I'd want to hear his story, after the fact, then I could say whether or not it was really justified for taking the dumbasses life.
I'll repeat myself that if this would happen more often, you'd see a dramatic change in these "delinquent's attitudes", as they might actually fear being killed as the one in this case was. It's the fact that gun control laws that hamper the average law abiding citizen from carrying a defense weapon that cause most of these situations.
Back in the 1980's while visiting Oregon, I came across the first experience where everyday folks carried guns all over the place. It was at first a strange feeling (being from NJ) seeing everyone with pistols hanging off of their belts, but after a few weeks, it actually comforted me that there were so many people who had them. I felt that there wasn't anyone stupid or daring enough to try anything stupid around us, as everyone we were with was packing. There was little if no crime where I was, and I attributed that to everyone having guns... and a different attitude towards rearing their kids.... with respect towards others
I had a great time there, and I miss that way of life.

I hope that he fares as well as the 18 year old Oklahoma mom who killed the intruder in her home. Too bad he didn't get them all.

You'd buy him a beer as long as he was accepting of it.

I take no pleasure in the death of another.
But if it's a choice of me or them ....... they'll come up short every time.

Oh look at this old guy on a bike, he should be an easy target, we'll mug him and scram. I think not!!!
Good for the geezer. I see vermin like this all the time praying on older or elderly folks.
Justice served the way it should be.

Kinda mixed feelings about this one.. I've meet 16 year olds that had the common sense and maturity of a 6 year old and still waiting for puberty to kick in. Others who could pass for grown adults. I just hoping this wasn't some kind of stupid prank to show off to their buddies. Then again maybe they were gonna rob the poor guy?
I'd believe I'd only shoot if I truly felt my live or families was in danger. Getting knocked off a bicycle doesn't seem to live threatening to me.
Okay I take this back.. I just read where they tried to rob him. Guess they learned the hard way of why not to mess with old people..
