I think people in general just need to be decent to each other. You should respect someones opinion even if it doesn't mach your own. Just take it for what it is, an opinion. People that get bent out of shape over religion and politics have very strong beliefs one way or the other. We should respect that and be curtious. If you want to prove your point to someone if you think they are wrong, don't call them a moron, make them realize they are morons with facts and they sould thank you for enlightening them. I love being corrected, it lets me know I'm human and that I've been a moron and now I don't have to be. As for religion, people can discuss and argue about it as much as they want. The universal truth to religion is that NOBODY KNOWS THE TRUTH. And if they tell you that it's their way or the highway they are closed minded morons. If you aren't willing to consider other people's beliefs in conversation, then you need to avoid certain topics. A perfect example of proving a point in a civil way is this: Lots of people think ford owns cummins right? Well, we KNOW for a fact that is not true. Instead of arguing with someone for hours on end all you have to do is go to the cummins site and show them the faq. "does ford own cummins" "no". Very simple and no need to name call or be rude. Just proof, no other BS. Would you call your grandpa a moron if he diddn't agree with you? I hope not. You know why you wouldn't? Because of respect. Treat everyone with respect until they don't deserve it. This is the calmest, most flame free forum I've ever been on. Lets keep it that way whatever we talk about.

I agree that alot of the political threads do get spirited, but they are nothing like the oil threads! Man someone could get killed in those things! I have actually been cussed more in the oil and filter threads than the political ones.
I do agree that some people shouldn't breed!

I agree that the incorrect use of the English language is frustrating and can lead to misunderstandings (mostly because I can't understand what's being said) but how did you come to get cursed at. I have never seen a curse word on this site, unlike almost all the others. I've seen some attempts but they get snuffed pretty quickly. Go admin.!!! A spirited discussion causes me to examine my stand, clarify my point and express myself clearly and sometimes admit I was wrong. Na, just kidding, I forgot, I'm never wrong. I guess the nicest thing about a public forum is that ignorance shows its self, you don't have to hunt for it and you don't have to respond to it. Oh, and thanks for making me look up a new word, vitriolic. Rick

Love it or leave it.

"Everything else not covered in the main topics goes here. Please avoid brand and flame wars. Don't try and up your post count. It won't work in here."
If that be the case, you might want to lay that out in the "Other" Forum description. The first two words kind of leave it wide open.

I understand what Mexstan is saying, And i understand what the admins are saying. As someone who loves to talk politics, I have found first hand on more than one occasion that some people cannot tolerate any view other than their own. You cant change someones beliefs, but you can open their eyes and give them a new view. But far too many people dont like what they see. I live in rural Oklahoma and the main topics people discuss here are cattle prices, feed and other farm related topics. Try to talk about anything else and the conversation ends. As for myself, I love to talk about world events, Who was elected in some small country 8000 miles away is just as important to me as who was elected for some post in any state here. It is a small world and getting smaller by the day.

It needs to be spelled out in the rules of the particular forum then. Someone not in the clique might not be aware political threads are not allowed. I did not think a truck site could be as feminized as the rest of society or the world for that matter . Would not want to hurt anyones feelings.

Since when does following a set of guidelines equate to being "feminized" ??
I'm pretty secure in my manhood, as are most of the folks that congregate here, and we all know what the rule is and abide by it.
Didn't take me more than 3 or 4 threads to figure it out either, which means that folks have been able to enjoy about 3-4 years of non-political garbage from Pistol's world on this site... pretty sweet deal in my opinion ... I just wish others would take the hint .
Gotta go lift some weights, beat someone up or some other "masculine" activity .

We need to agree on the essentials and have charity on the non-essentials.
So here's a start at the essentials, add if you like:
- America is a great country.
- Freedom isn't free.
- Cummins rules.
...and many others I'm sure.
