Morning.

SUNDAY, JULY 15th:

1806 - Lieutenant Zebulon Pike began his western expedition from Fort Belle Fountaine, near St. Louis, MO.

1870 - Georgia became the last of the Confederate states to be readmitted to the Union.

1901 - Over 74,000 Pittsburgh steel workers went on strike.

1916 - In Seattle, WA, Pacific Aero Products was incorporated by William Boeing. The company was later renamed Boeing Co.

1918 - The Second Battle of the Marne began during World War I.

1942 - The first supply flight from India to China over the 'Hump' was carried to help China's war effort.

1958 - Five thousand U.S. Marines landed in Beirut, Lebanon, to protect the pro-Western government. The troops withdrew October 25, 1958.

1965 - The spacecraft Mariner IV sent back the first close-up pictures of the planet Mars.

1971 - U.S. President Nixon announced he would visit the People's Republic of China to seek a "normalization of relations."

1987 - Taiwan ended thirty-seven years of martial law.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
'Later' always comes sooner than we think it will.

Coffee and some kinda weird pastry is ready.

Ahh, Shorts, you must be referring to Camp Crystal Lake huh....(you know, Friday the 13th??) Yep, sounds like wierd music is already starting to play in the background........."look behind you.....it's Twitchit and Chaikwa with some eerie looking faces trying to spook you!!"

Still, the deserted hotel, motel thing still holds light. Heading to bed, got another 12 hr shift staring me in the face tonight.

Later ya'll.

Bobby has been busy, but thanks for asking. I noted the one "Guess what happened to me this week" and thought someone was talking about me. Had a detour this week. Wednesday morn about 3am, woke up sweating profusely, elephant in my chest, gasping for breathe. Thought OH NO, not again. For most that would not know, had major heart attack 12 years ago, flat line in the ambulance on the way to hospital, brought me back, 100% blockage in "widow maker" plus open chest with triple bypass two weeks later. Soooo, waking up with the same feelings was not a welcome thing. Long story short, multiple tests on Thursday, all negative. So, Friday morning into the cath lab - - at conclusion, doc came and looked at me and said you are amazing. Well, I knew that, but to have him confirm it was very nice. ......... Seriously, he said he had not seen a 12yo operation look that good, even 3 or 4 year ones do not look that good. Stent was still perfect, bypasses wonderful (except one had grown closed probably right from the start, but no problem) and no plaque anywhere. HUH???? SO???? what caused it. Acid Reflux Attack. HUH??? never heard of it. Guess it can mimick a heart attack except normally does not radiate into arms, shoulders, neck. So, gave me clean bill and sent me home Friday afternoon. Just dragged out from no sleep and all the pills and drips they jammed in me. Slept 12 hours last two nights - - normally I do 6 to 7 max. So, just thankful God was watching over me, plus arranged to give me peace about the condition of my work from 12 years ago. That has been bothering me while considering our return to Alaska next spring. Wow, ever been in north BC or the Yukon? Ain't nobody up there in many places - - not the place to have a heart attack.

So, NN, thanks for asking - - I am back and grateful.

So anywho, happy new week and enjoy it - - watch your priorities. Tell those that are close how much you love them, spend time with them, spend time with God - - it can all change in a hurry.

Ooops!!
Uhh, what I meant to say is that I have really enjoyed watching most of my nieces and nephews as they grew up.
(Guess I havent quite recovered from that last trip to Anchorage).

Glad you are doing ok. Speaking of the Yukon. About 8 years ago while going north we had found a place to camp. Life was good.
Around midnight I had what I assumed was a heart attack or something. Same stuff you describe even the sweating. I really thought I was dying.
No towns or other people for many miles.
I didn't wake up my wife since she wouldnt be able to do anything and I went and sat in the truck.
Couple of hours went by and I started to feel a little better.
Made it back to AK and went to see the Doctor. After a bunch of tests he said it could have been Acid Reflux but was probably a Panic Attack.
Like you I said about the Acid Reflux---HUH??? Wish they had a different name for it because I DONT PANIC.
All I know is I never want to have another one and I sure don't want to ever go through what you did with your heart attack (its been 4 months since my last cigar).

twichit: I like the Motel theme esp since The Shining was on last night and chaikwa has access to a fire axe.
I like the desert theme because on a moonless night in the desert there are always weird things going on.

Bob, glad to hear you're OK but do treat the reflux. The consequences of untreated reflux are pretty debilitating.

So it is the saw garage, OMG!!!!!!

Evening all. Week one out of the way, three more to go. So far we've had pretty good luck finding what we need here. North Platte is a fair bit bigger than where he have been lately, pop 25,000.

So what you're saying is you'd rather be like Bob, grow old, crotchety and generally miserable because you can't have anything you enjoy rather than be happy.

What I want to know is does the guy loading the nail gun go by the last name "Bates" and has anyone actually seen his mother lately?
With the exception of a few stains here and there the rooms are OK. Hmm the new shower curtain has a slit in it. Back in a few I need to get some ice for the night
