Decisions, decisions.......
If you and your family do not mind constant action and noise, that sounds like it might be a good deal. Hope you like getting up way early. Rock pits get going early as construction gets going early.
I am in the middle of moving from where I live now because of having an orchard on three sides (really all four sides, but read further) and a tourist train line on the fourth with a midnight farmer beyond that.
After being here for many years, I will be happy too be on a spot of land with no close activity.
And if the guy next to me makes too much noise early in the morning, I will just call Mom and say "Tell Pop's to knock it off for a while"
It'll be nice to get moved onto the family land finally.

went and looked at a foreclosure yesterday. It needs about $10,000-15,000 worth of work, but I can prolly get it for $50,000.
It is 1755 sqft heat and cooled, plus a 600 sqft garage... Yard is nice size.
It is in a neighborhood where people take pride in their yards... I see my first home fellas. I got to go to the bank today to start lining up financing...
I am gonna do a construction loan, buy the house, and then start work on it. Get done, then transfer it to a conventional loan... How does that sound....I think I will start another thread on this...

Think we're gonna pass on it. We were talking about the commute last night, and I got a taste of Mopac at it's worst this afternoon on the way home. Gonna find something a little closer..

How bad is the commute? Hour? More/Less? Is this around Austin? 18 acres....sounds nice. Paint is cheap. A Privet hedge can help drowned out that noise as well as a strategically placed wall, or both.

Her's would be between 45 mins to an hour. Mine would be close to 2 on the return trip. Did that traveling between SA and Austin. Don't really care to do it again.
