D rate tire pressure
I have some bfg AT's on now, they need to be replaced, there is still about 1/4 tread. I was washing the truck yesterday and the front right tire was a little low. So out comes the air compressor and digital gauge. I check the pressure and it's at 40.6 lbs. I read the tire and they want 65psi cold. I filled all tires to 60psi and the truck seems to drive and steer better then before. Is that 65psi a max pressure or recommened pressure.
I'm looking at some new 265/75r/16's in the next few weeks. I tow a 7k TT about every other weekend any recomendations, I don't like the BFG's, overpriced for a name in my opnion.

I've had 3 sizes and 5 different brands on my truck. Some d's and some e's. I have found that each brand reacts different to different pressures. I watch my tire wear very close and adjust the pressure according to wear, reguardless of load condition.

My 315's are D rated, 55 max.
I run max in front and 10 lower in back, seems to be just right.
Still don't like the bulge though, definately going back to E's next time.

I'm not too worried about these tires but just the general tire facts for the new ones. D's or E's what's everyones thoughts.
Thanks
Bill.

Yes, much heavier in front, rear is usually empty except the usual junk.
If I were towing, I'd up the rears 5psi or so, towing heavy, I wouldn't have D's, I'd have E's.

I've got "D's" as well on mine MAX PSI is 65 but I'm running the front at 60 PSI and rear at 55 PSI. I was about 10 PSI fornt and rear softer. I'm trying the new PSI for a test and wear pattern. So far I like the highier PSI setup better and the tires do seem to be affected yet...

I run Michelin LTX 265 E's at 80 pounds when I haul and 70 front/65 rear when not. I have to be careful about the bulge from running the 265s on stock 96 rims so the air gets adjusted accordingly.
For frequent heavy weight towing at speed I would recommend E-rated tires.
