Cutter Ants
Anyone know the best way to get rid of them? i had an oak tree that was pretty much dead and when i cut it down, ants poured out of it.
i also have discovered an ant "ho chi mihn trail" going about 50 yards from their hole to my front flowerbed, and theyre killing two of my bushes. there must be about 1000 or more in the one colony. i have zero expeerience with these. on the upside, i have only killed 2 fire ant mounds on the entire property

Dinomite!!! On a safer note I was doina dam restoration project on the stone face that was neglected for 17 years. There were colonies every 10-15 feet, of different kinds of ants. I was just spraying the heck out of the nests and surounding area with off the shelf wasp and ant killer from raid or cheap brand. Did a good job on them. Just douse any holes they come in and out of and all around them, also any of their trails they routinely run.

Find out what foods/scents they like, then place a significant ammount of this in your neighbors yard.
Ok, sorry for not having anything productive. But on a side note i love Raid flying insect killer for killing ants if they ever make it in the house. Regular ant killer is too messy and requires you spraying them all directly.. seems like flying insect killer can be just sprayed in the air over them and they all die pretty quick without a huge mess of slimy spray all over.

Ace hardware sells a product called Terro. I've used it on the tiny little sugar ants, it works and works now! They have another product for Carpenter ants, probably what you have. Here's a link. Don't let the price scare you, this is a 12 pack. http://www.acehardware.com/product/i...entPage=family

The commercial killer used to be Methyl Bromide. Its been out lawed, but somebody could have some somewhere.
Texas Leafcutter ants (Town ants) are a serious deal, You should contact the Texas Forest Service, they should have somebody who could help you or give better advice on local sources for help.
