Cummins in a Ford
TDS has a poll going on their site that asks, if you could get a Cummins or 6.0 PSD in a Ford, which would you choose? So far, about 80-90% have chosen that they would purchase the Cummins in their Ford. I personally think the other 10% are just too scared to suck it up and put pride aside. This led me to think, what if our users had a choice. If you could pick a Ford/Cummins combo or Dodge/Cummins combo, which would you choose?
Honestly 5 years ago, it would have been no question for me. It would have been Ford and Cummins. BUT, given the improvements that Dodge has made since that time, there is absolutely no question, I would now choose Dodge/Cummins any day of the week.
What are your thoughts on this? NO WARS

Looks like I'm the only one for a Ford/Cummins so far.
Don't get me wrong, I like the truck I have. It does just what I got it for.
I was real happy with the Fords I had, '85 F250 Super Cab with the 6.9L and a '88 F350 Crew Cab Duelly with the original 7.3L (non-turbo). Both were good trucks. Just not much on the power side.
The Ford should have a little more room for the guys in the back seat and I like some of the options ($$) you can get on one.
Mabey I'm just fickle...

Add another Ford/Cummins vote. I have no problems stating that I bought my 2002 Dodge because, and only because of the Cummins engine option. Ford at the time I thought had a more attractive body, interior, and assorted accoutrements.

Ford/Cummins.
I have been associated with Ford all my life. My '97 was the first dodge that someone in my family has every owned. (bought it for the cummins because at the time i had been driving 7.3 idi's, and wanted something diff.) Needless to say the Cummins stuck with me.
I know everyone has diff. views, and experiences with both brands. I like Fords. I like Dodges. The 2nd gen ram has really grown on me, but it just has not held up like the Fords I have been associated with have. Granted, it has held up pretty good. Both trucks, and both engines are workhorses no doubt.
I would like to see a an option of a Ford with a 5.9 Cummins. I believe that sales of that combo would exeed sales of all other light duty diesel trucks. Everyone that I know personally, has agreed with me, and said they would definately buy one.

All you crew-cab whiners need to just bite the bullet and go buy a mini-van...
Ten years ago, I probably would have said Ford/Cummins, but I've been pleased with all three of my Dodges. About the only thing that Ford offers as an option that I wish Dodge did is limited slip on both axles.

I voted for Ford/Cummins.....but honestly, I'd be happy with either combination.
I just like the Ford trucks better. They seem to be BIGGER.....which makes them seem like more truck.
The exception to that would be 4x4 duallies. If I were getting a 4x4 dually, there is no doubt whatsoever that I'd want the Cummins in a Dodge. There is something about the Dodge 4x4 dually pickups that just look big and intimidating and just......well, sweet. I think the 3rd Gen Dodge 4x4 dually is the sharpest looking truck on the road right now.
I gotta say this though.....Ford does a lot better job of adding little things to their trucks to make them more desirable......like insulation in the door panels so you don't hear a loud clank when you hit a rock, or lights in the ash tray and glove box and under the hood, and wheel well liners......you know, all those little things that Dodge is doing away with to save money.

I have a friend that has an 01 dodge 3500 2wd, and an 02 F-350 cc dually 2wd.
He owns and runs a small fence building company. He uses the Dodge for that.
He is also a PRCA team roper, and travels the country. He uses the f350 to pull his horse trailer.
When he want to go somwhere in style, and have a comfortable ride, he takes the ford.
But when he is working, and needs a good all around powerful work truck, he uses the Dodge.
he admits the Dodge pulls better, but the Ford is just nicer to drive.
He told me saturday that he wishes he could have the best of both worlds. Ford\Cummins combo

This is why Dodge will never let go of Cummins.
Using the current poll number, if 50% of Dodge diesel owners went to a Ford with a Cummins, Dodge would be in some serious trouble.
Dodge is just barely beating GM in the diesel pickup market (Dodge has 28% of the market), if they let go of Cummins they can kiss it all goodbye.
...unless they find a way to get a John Deere in a Dodge
