I have all the respect in the world for my Cummins after it pulled our new 16,000 lb GVWR 36' 5ver to Fort Worth and back last week in 100+ degF temperatures at 65-70 MPH without even breaking a sweat!

RustyJC:

I here what you are saying. I have done things with my truck that perhaps, a light truck really should not be doing and I am impressed again and again at just how effortless it does it. It just would not be possible without a CTD. Is it the fastest?....No....But I have not got the same feeling from other diesels of completely relentless torque. Yeah, I know the other diesels tow heavy too, but they feel like they are always struggling or running very hard to do it. I guess I am somewhat biased too (I try not to be) but I can't help it - I have not yet seen a comparable motor in the light truck market. Hey, if they put a CTD in a F*%D I might consider it too - but they don't.

IT must be diffrent in VA............. the last diesel pull I went here in Ohio there were
24 trucks total
3 PSD
1 DMD
20 CTD
and lets just say that a cummins didnt get 1 of the last 4 spots that night !!!!!!
Its really that lopsided here. its a no brainer CTD's every where of course you still got a few PSD ford lovers out there that just dont care to see the light

As far as the article, aren't they saying that the powerstroke with a few mods would beat their Baja Bomber project truck. Doesn't seem right since I read here a couple of months ago that it was supposed to have about 500hp.

Dont know about sleds and realy aint truck-savvy enough to understand what all the dyno numbers mean...
Had a Ford F350, 2WD, non-turbo 6.9... got 10 MPG and maxed out at about 65mph, down to 45 uphill, while pulling a 32 ft gooseneck with 4 horses and all related tack.
Now got my CTD 4WD 350 and max at about 80 mph pulling the same load, down to about 68 uphill, getting around 18-22MPG......
I know which one I think is the better, but heck, what do I know...
maybe I better read that article.....

The common reply with most diesel guys towing is "Dosent even feel like its back there!". PSD owners say it as a standard answer, wether its 500lbs or 35000lbs.

I rode with a guy that had a f350 7.3 and he was towing a 7000lb boat. I asked him "how does it tow?" as i was watching the tach rise rather high and hearing the engine kind of struggling and the tranny slipping between shifts and going about 45mph up a 4-5% bridge. He just replys, "dont even feel it back there". I just wondered about the standard answer or IS HIS TRUCK THIS SLOW ALL THE TIME . I just kept quiet and dreamed about how i love my Cummins.

That's because he's never driven anything else w/ a load! And he's probably comparing his PSD to a gasser...not the PSD to the CTD.
