Let's just say that on day 2, the fish didn't stand a chance.

Mine is the exact opposite, he had never heard of Spam, so I brought along 3 or 4 cans to pan fry for him and the boys at a scout campout.

You would have thought it was Filet Mignon, them boys descended on it and before I could get a piece myself, all of it was fried up and gone......

Thing that gets me is the price of spam. Used to be real cheap.
Now its $2.50 (or more) for twelve oz. Never thought I would see spam for over 3 bucks a pound.

I used to get Underwood's Deviled Ham on a sandwich for lunch as a kid cuz it was cheap...

Not anymore. Its over 3 bucks a can!

I still get a little crazy for hunting and fishing trips though sometimes and splurge on a few cans!!

I always kept some fake spam (Armour Star "Potted meat product") and crackers in the truck in case I got stuck somewhere. That and Bush's baked beans.

Sure seems to happen a lot around here. That other thread went from having a runny nose to enemas in just one page.

SPAM pan fried was as good as any prime rib when I cooked it in Kuwait right after the ground war was over in Desert Storm back in 91! Warm Coke/Pepsi or even near beer (non alcoholic version) washed it down pretty good too, as it was all we had.

Seriously though, I just got a oil less turkey fryer and after having a turkey turn out pretty darn good, I had to try a rib roast in it. I got a 5 rib - rib roast, rubbed it down with McCormicks roasting herbs and sea salt and used a thermometer probe inserted to the middle, to show internal cooking temperature. I cooked it to medium in the middle as everyone else liked it cooked even more than that. Took 3.5 hours and turned out VERY GOOD!

I never thought of using one of those for roast.
I like the idea of the oil less turkey fryer because it always seemed like a waste of oil and a hazard in the regular ones.

What brand did you get and is it propane or elect?

Char Broil Propane model. Only used it 2x so far. 1 turkey and 1 roast. Both came out great. Only oil was sprayed on the outside to help herbs stay on. Used a kitchen pump up oil sprayer and used Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Heart Healthy LOL!

Hmmm, the price is pretty reasonable on them. I need a new toy.

Speaking of roast turkey, my kid got a football for Christmas!

Where will this thread end up!!

Just kidding.

We have had really good luck seasoning the rib roast the previous night except for the salt, that goes on right before putting it in the oven....

Mmmmm, froglegs!
